Disney is a family friendly company. Warner Bros isn't. So obviously they're not going to care. I mean they worked with Weinstein for christ sake. Disney owned Miramax run by Harvey, how is wb bad? I don't see how they're good.

In all seriousness, I can understand your point of view --- especially if you've had some personal experience dealing with a pedaphile. That said, Gunn's joke tweaks were in extremly poor taste; however, I think that was all there was to it. If victims stepped forward or there was a credible, documented history, I'd believe otherwise... I find myself watching his films more defensively now but, I can still watch them. Yeah I don't condemn anyone from watching his films. It's just more of a personal thing with me. I just feel like I'm supporting him and his jokes. I would never presume to tell someone else they are. It sucks too because I really liked GotG 1 and Slither a lot. In a while I might waiver on not watching his movies again if there were a reason too. I don't know. I think that's a healthy outlook. While some people were genuinley concerned about Gunn's history, I think others still were just using Gunn as the fulcrum in an ongoing battle to discredit Disney and the MCU.

I just lost a lot of respect for WB/DC. If the DC fans don't come out and lambaste WB/DC then they are hypocrites. You'll need at every turn to put down WB/DC. You need to boycott the movie and possible boycott the entirely DCEU. If he writes and directs this will leave a taint on the DCEU. I'm more than okay with it. Disney fired him too soon without fact checking, amputated a problem at the source before bothering to notice it wasn't even gangrenous. I'm no sympathy for Disney firing James Gunn. Being brought on by the competition is the karma they deserve.

Yeah I made an error. I got him and Brett Ratner mixed up. Still fuck those two as well as Disney and Warner Bros.

I don’t like Gunn’s GOTG films but even he could do more with SS than what we got in the first film. Gunn’s SS2 will be better than SS, but {absolutely anyone}’s GOTG 3 will be better than GOTG 2.

they don't cry a single tear after Gunn. Legally they had no choice but terminate or the brand would have been tarnished. 1. Gunn made pedophilic tweets during his Disney tenure (in violation of Disney's ethical codes/CoCs). 2. Gunn also failed to disclose the already existing pedophilic and rapist tweets to Marvel/Disney before entering into the contract (a grave breach of precontractual trust). 3. Disney as family entertainment enterprise cannot employ or further this type of man, especially at a publicly exposed top position (tone from the top principle) 4. With this kind of disposition and output you never know what else is coming; eg after the tweet fiasco pedo-themed party photos resurfaced, then later a video where Gunn out of the blue jokes about anally abusing his daughter before her merried, then strange videos where he pretends to beat and punishes his child-like-looking girlfriend. This is how you run an group, with compliance ethics and standards or you get fucked by people like Gunn.

This is how you run an group, with compliance ethics and standards or you get fucked by people like Gunn. As far as I know, this was all accounted for years ago. His jokes. I thought it came out ages ago that he'd apologized for these Tweets and that Disney knew when they brought him. It was just afterwards when some right wing conspiracy theorist guy snitched to Disney about Gunn that they thought they had to do something.
All of those jokes are years old. Are they in poor taste? Sure, perhaps. But they're just jokes, and not even recent. So unless new information has been released, your 1 and 2 aren't correct. But that only scratches the surface because if they were, I would understand the spirit of violating the contract more than being terminated for just the jokes themselves. As far as I ever knew, his performance and behavior since being taken on by Disney is impeccable, probably for that very reason (it's not every day you get brought on by Disney).
I don't know if I have the interest to look up everybody Disney's employed who might have had issues with police. Suffice to say, they're as ruthless and meticulous a corporation as any, just with a child friendly Mickey Mouse logo. They'll still throw their own mother under the bus if it threatens the bottom line.
Those weird jokes about his girlfriend and fitting in the suitcase, that was weird. Weird in as much as I didn't think they were funny. But he didn't do anything. They're just jokes. All of them jokes. That's why his firing left such a bad taste in people's mouths, not limited to his co-stars, other celebrities and directors and me. No law was broken, no crime was committed, no allegation ever taken to its limit. He made edgy jokes on social media, some Bill O'Reilly wannabe tattle-tailed so he's out. If he directs a winner for the DCEU, it'll be exactly what Disney deserves for overreacting too quickly and publicly for them to walk back.
Can you imagine getting a dream gig like that then finding yourself fired for out of context jokes you made on this site? Especially years after the fact? That's crazy.

As far as I ever knew, his performance and behavior since being taken on by Disney is impeccable, probably for that very reason (it's not every day you get brought on by Disney). nope the facts are. 1. Some of the pedophiliac tweets date during his tenure eg Dec 2012 and later; also he has deleted thousands of them, so we cannot know. 2. He apologized back then. But not for the tweet: He had depraved homophobic and sexist content on his homepage: Disney made him remove and apologize for this stuff. They did not know of the tweets and other stuff and he did not disclose, or they would have acted on thsi gruesome stuff. jokes? that makes it worse actually. If you make countless racists/sexist/pedophilic jokes, you are a racist/sexist/pedophiliac. It's not an excuse but shows a lack of maturity and accountability: Luckily, contract terminations have nothing to do with criminal offenses; it would be absurd if you had to commit one to get fired. Not in the least, thousands of people get fired without any reason whatsoever. Gunn was a creep who though rules do not apply to him, he is accountable for his actions - and git millions of severance money unlike normal employees.

That's what I thought. 2012, before Guardians of the Galaxy came along. For 6 years it meant they meant nothing at all. And if he removed and apologized for this stuff then what's the problem? He still didn't do anything wrong. You're right about below (I'm jumping the gun in getting there) about not having to commit a crime to get fired, but he was fired for reasons that didn't have anything to do with his job.
If he apologized back then, what could they continue to want from him? I think they're wrong in believing that it would have the negative impact they were afraid of. I think firing him had the greater consequences.
When we talk about people who've done bad things, I almost forgot Robert Downy Jr. who I think was 2 steps in and 1 step away from real jail time, so I know Disney has a place for reformed sinners.
It might have showed a lack of maturity and accountability years ago. But they're just jokes. If I thought any of those things about him were true then I'd prefer he be gone too but there's no evidence that he is, only a bunch of bad jokes that when put next to each other looks like the sum of all that he's made of.
In that spoiler thing you put, I read them all and they're just jokes. They're not true or real. You don't think he actually fucked a boy because he was turned on watching The Expendables, do you? The worst thing about them is they're not funny, and he's explained himself in his response to his firing that he's grown and matured, especially with the responsibility Disney gave him.
I don't think making a bunch of bad jokes years ago qualifies one as a creep. As far as I know, he's never hurt, assaulted or molested anybody. I know "they're just jokes" must seem redundant by now but that's just what they are. His cast and crew speak highly of him, went to bat for him, probably failed because Disney lays on the wire for nobody. He's a long way away from eating cat food for dinner but I imagine he'd still rather be living the dream on Disney's dollar than have his career sabotaged by some Pizza Gate peddling, right wing filth-hustler.
This guy has a track record of accusing people of being pedophiles or supporting pedophilia to win the upper hand. This guy took what was already available knowledge and showed it to Gunn's employer like a bitch. He painted a portrait of James Gunn by gathering a bunch of his worst tweets in one place to make him look like something he's not and Disney fell for it. The snitch won. These might be big money contracts but James Gunn was fired like a normal employee. Fired like an ordinary employee and branded like an ordinary person. He's just a man.

If you know anything about American politics, you know that Disney did not fire James Gunn over offensive tweets. Iger: 2024. Believe it.

Okay this shit between Bautista and Gunn is getting a little too weird. Do you think maybe they're... "buddies"? And don't ask what I mean! You know! You KNOW!
p.s. He would make an excellent BANE!

Hmmm... You should be more concerned with the fact that Jim and Dave are going to be running the DCEU in two to three years tops. Hee hee hee... It just hit me like a ton of bricks that Jim is gonna spill on that MCU organizational secret sauce.

Add Flat Earther there too. That guy who started all this recently became a Flat Earther or at least defended the Flat Earth theory.

Add Flat Earther there too. That guy who started all this recently became a Flat Earther or at least defended the Flat Earth theory. It's frustrating to observe. None of these jokes confirm or support anything. Although I think Disney was wrong, their decision to amputate the problem at the source is easier to understand people buying it so long after the fact. Say what you will about the jokes (there's plenty) but they've been around and accessible since at least 2012 and were never a problem until this right-wing conspiracy theorist copied them all into one place and said look, this is your guy. It's frustrating to watch the MCU and DCEU factor into whether the allegations have any merit. As if it would make any difference if it were the DCEU that fired him over those tweets instead of the MCU. It makes me feel like the point is missed.
