They ALWAYS come damaged! I ordered The Invisible Man on Blu ray for some good Halloween watchin' and of course it arrives with the case all smushed.
Damn it all to hell! Now how am I going to stare at my perfectly perfect collection like an obsessive weirdo?
Can we please bring back real brick and mortar stores? This digital age stuff sucks.

This is exactly why I don't shop online, unless I can't find it in my local stores...
They show you... A GENERIC PICTURE... Perfect and in Mint Condition of what you really want... Probably one picture to represent a whole shelf full of products...
And then they will grab whatever is on that shelf, which may NOT be what you are expecting and then they will ship it to you...
And yes, I have received a couple of bad products before, that didn't even match the picture!
When you actually go to the store, you can actually physically examine the product, BEFORE you pay for it and take it home...
Which can also save you on Shipping & Handling costs...
And you can use it as soon and you pay for it and leave the store... You don't have to wait for days for the shipper to possibly lose it or damage it!
Please support your local community businesses, whenever possible!
You'll be much happier!

I completely agree, and I really don't understand why most people don't see it the way you described. Unfortunately, a lot of items, like the one I just purchased are unavailable in real stores.

OK, so don't do it then. I try not to. But even the big city, there are tons of items that cannot be found anywhere but online.

Please support your local community businesses, whenever possible! Unfortunately, a lot of items, like the one I just purchased are unavailable in real stores. When I want "Stuff" I want it...NOW!...not several days from now... I don't understand why so many people want to wait for it... The reason why it is unavailable in stores, is because more and more people are buying it online... Stores won't stock what people are no longer buying... Walmart just now sells the newest Movies & TV Shows, "Disney" (kids) films, and value packs... Anything else? Nope. If fear this ONLINE trend will continue, and they won't even sell those anymore... It's a domino effect... What really boggles my mind is when people say that grocery stores will cease to exist in 10 years... How can people be so foolish to "order" products like... meat, produce and dairy products... based on some picture taken one month ago... and then have it shipped to them from the other side of the country on an UNREFRIGERATED truck? People need to understand, that stores can NOT just sell... meat, produce and dairy products... and remain in business. They need to sell other things too... such as: Toilet Paper... To keep these stores in your neighborhood! Seriously, consumers, please quit buying Toilet Paper from AMAZON, and support your local community by buying it at your local stores! If the store is sold out, well then, go ahead and fire up the computer and do a "onetime" shopping spree for the things you want and need!

The problem is that everything is going to online shopping. Even if I go into a store, which I do prefer, they might not have what I want and they suggest I just order it online. I have had stuff damaged from buying online, stuff that was supposed to be new. Not to mention items getting lost and I have to reorder them. I hate the waiting too, it really is better to buy at a store so you can have whatever it is right then and there.

It is a crazy spiral going back forever, it seems. Sears became enormous with mail order, I'm sure killing store after of store of Mom and Pop store who couldn't compete on price, leaving only those who could somehow add enough value to get us to not save by sending in the little envelope. Then phone ordering, now internet, and Amazon has gone from a bookstore to something that you can get what you are looking for, sometimes in less than a day with the click of a mouse.
But now we have that many less overall people that we are employing to purchase the item, so our collective buying power is less, taking that price advantage and throwing it away because overall we are making less, and it just keeps repeating itself over and over.
Try to break the chain without plenty of others doing likewise, and you are just spending more than the other guy.

Being a resident of Seattle, I have double reason to dislike Amazon as their growth has basically ruined the city I grew up in.

Being a resident of Seattle, I have double reason to dislike Amazon as their growth has basically ruined the city I grew up in. Yeah, I am seeing that happen where I live too... Brick N Mortar stores (And Shopping Malls) are going out of business everywhere... and then these buildings just sit there vacant.... For example: A Staples store in my neighborhood went out of business a few years ago, and it is still vacant... I am seeing more buildings sitting vacant, every week... It's really starting to make neighborhoods look like a poverty stricken community or even a war zone! I don't understand WHY online consumers want to make their neighborhoods look like this, especially when this also increases the crime rate as well, and also de-values residential property values.

Silly story, but my grandfather and I used to go to a local Barnes and Noble and listen to all the music we could find (there were headphones for sampling music), until we got yelled at by the same lady every time for never buying anything. Now that’s not too long ago, but it could never be done now—dear God, soon there may not be many Barnes and Noble stores left. Where’s the fun of it any more if one buys everything online? When I was in New York just recently, the Lord and Taylor in Midtown was closing— Lord and Taylor! What’s left? I wasn’t a fan of that movie Wall-E, the one about the robot, but Godalmighty if we aren’t turning more and more into the lazy floating scooter people in that. (I suppose my young fogey credentials are all in place, then, but I’m seriously worried about what the world’s coming to. I now expect PreachCaleb to pop up and tell us that our worries are all poppycock and there’s absolutely nothing to worry about and the modern world’s the greatest, as he always does.) A friend’s mother once told me I was born 100 years too late. The more I think about it, the more I feel that way.

I should have seen the real old days. I feel like I belong there. Or may be I could have traveled with Marco Polo or with Hiuen Tsang or with Fa Hien. Life would have been so much more interesting.

Life would have been so much more interesting. Heh. I would have loved to have travelled with any of them as well; my heart’s truly with old-fashioned virtues—chivalry, honor, and all that. I don’t know, it’s just an old soul thing, an out-of-my-time thing, and it’s nearly impossible to find a solution to it. So many people in my age-group just assume I’m weird and don’t like to have fun because I like old books and movies and all that. C’est la vie, but it’s difficult. Very difficult. Dear God, I don’t want to turn this into a pity-party for myself. I’ve just always been a bit out of place.

@forceghostackbar I think it's because for the type of stuff I get (generally computer related tech) it's generally cheaper online than it is locally and it's nice and convenient to order online from reputable places. saves on gas/time etc. so unless someone has money to burn, then naturally, whoever sells a good product at the cheapest price tends to get the $ which usually favors online over local. but with that said... I could understand for certain items it's better to get it locally like say a TV because if one has to send that back it's not going to be cheap. so unless you can save plenty on a TV ordering online, your better off getting it locally overall as it makes returns easier. p.s. it even used to save extra $ because of tax but I heard that Oct 1st 2018 they now supposedly tax out of state items here in Michigan now which sucks because that might cost me a fair amount when I get around to building a new PC down the road as say I spend roughly $400 (case/motherboard/CPU/RAM etc) that's like $24 in tax which is BS. the state is just getting greedy and trying to screw over the common person, as usual. www.michiganradio.org/post/michigan-department-treasury-will-begin-collecting-sales-tax-online-retailers ; but after reading that it appears it's not in every case, "Michigan will adopt the same taxing model that South Dakota uses for their online retailers, meaning that the tax will apply to businesses who sold more than $100,000 worth of goods or made over 200 transactions in the state in the past year." ; so who knows, maybe there are places I can order from online to dodge that crap Where are your ordering from because that seems odd that the cases would be THAT damaged especially since you seem to suggest it happens often. but then again I don't order that type of stuff online as I imagine when it comes to bluray and the like, depending on price etc, you might be better off getting that locally.

I wasn’t a fan of that movie Wall-E, the one about the robot, but Godalmighty if we aren’t turning more and more into the lazy floating scooter people in that. Exactly! I too have had that exact same thought on numerous occasions... Seriously, is it that hard to get off your ass and get out of the house and drive a couple of miles to the store, and pick up a pack of toilet paper, and bring it back home? But it must be, because people are ordering stuff like that online from some place like AMAZON, have it delivered to their home, and then have the driver actually bring their order inside... TALK ABOUT LAZY!!!
