Bird and/or squirrel food. Or the raccoon gets it. Who knows?

I use them for toast, never for sandwiches.

Eat 'em.
Family name for them is "boy bread" because my mom's only brother (in a family with several girls ) always wanted (and got) those end pieces

I still eat them. I see no good reason to waste them.

Feed the birds or bin them, depending on how old the bread is.

For those who don't want to eat the bread ends (which always puzzles me ) you can put them in a bag in the freezer and when you have enough to bother with … put them in a warm oven for a while to dry out and then make either croutons or bread crumbs from them,
Ditto for those annoying crusts you cut off of your sandwich bread.
Thus endeth the household waste-not-want-not hint for the day !

NEXT QUESTION (for those who don't) :
Why do you NOT eat the end pieces of a loaf of bread ?

Best part of the loaf. Holds up better if used in soups or easier to spread butter or jelly on. I'd buy a whole load of heels if offered.

NEXT QUESTION (for those who don't) : Why do you NOT eat the end pieces of a loaf of bread ? They are usually misshaped and/or extremely thin.

CatmanI'm spoiled. Make my own bread and always eat the ends first … best part of a homemade loaf, imo. The ends on those hard and crusty Italian loaves never made it home from the bakery when I was sent to buy bread on spaghetti night as a kid ! Only time I eat "boughten bread" is when traveling the RV and it's difficult to make the change from real bread to "cotton" store bought loaves.

I have always liked the ends the best. Be it toast or for a sandwich.

It's bread, it's food.....why would you act like a spoiled 2 year old and treat them like they have the plague

It's not the best part of the loaf but I'm still gonna eat it. Why throw away two perfectly fine bread slices?
