BATouttaheck, Catwoman used to make our bread as well until she just couldn't do it any more. And the end slices were delicious.

I haven't eaten that kind of bread since I was a little kid and my mom made me sandwiches.

I make up several batches of dry ingredients and put them in individual jars .. at bread making time, it's water, oil, the mix and yeast and couple of hours later when you smell the fab-tastic bread smell wafting up the stairs … Bob's yer Uncle ! You don't get that rolling and kneading satisfaction but it's hellaciously easy and so much more edible than that store boughten cotton bread. Thrift stores always have them for under $10 .. often brand new and in the box .. people get them as gifts and never try them out. I have backups in the cupboard just in case they wear out … so far only one has and that was after several years !. Mine also makes jam to go on the bread. <drool!>

An impromptu-style wrap sandwich. Usually.

I eat them. As a kid I didn't because they were just the crust.
I wonder how many of the people who don't eat the ends eat the crust from the other slices? If so then why not the small end piece that is all crust?
