Right now just disregarding conspiracy theories that Jurassic Park was propaganda promoting the existence of non-existent dinosaurs.
Jurassic Park can still be revered as a special effects masterpiece. It's often said that this early 90's movie had better CGI than films that came after it. I think it's because there was very little screen time with actual dinosaurs. And when dinosaurs were shown a lot of the time it was done with giant photo-realistic puppets. When CGI dinosaurs did appear it was usually at night, or far away, or moving so fast it wouldn't matter if it was blurry. Spielberg always was good at blending things.

As an 8 year old kid in 1993, it’s all about the dinosaurs. The first scene with the T-Rex is still fucking boss. Now, it’s all about the Malcolm. Mere mortals have perished just attempting that laugh or studly shirtless pose. That’s... that’s chaos theory.

I think a re-imagining of the books for HBO a la Westworld could be cool. Or it could wind up like Terra Nova. Blegh!

Dark rainstorm. JP1 & JP2.
Sure it probably hid early 90's cgi better, I'm fine with it.

Yeah, the JP novel had its moments, but I feel like Spielberg did a great job in adapting the best parts of the novel into the screen version. I also prefer the film version of John Hammond as opposed to the novel's Evil Walt Disney-type, because Sir Richard Attenborough does such a good job in that role and I find that portrayal more interesting.

It was an early episode of cinemasins that pointed out to me that the newspaper clipping in Grant’s office was about alien abduction. Imagine that reveal in Fallen Kingdom that was the Secret to Jurassic Park all along. It was the midgets from Close Encounters.

I didn't know there was a subtitled version. Is it for dinosaur speak?

I was talking about the subtle use of special effects. The way Spielberg blended animatronics with CGI and the environment in such a way that it didn't look like a cartoon like so many modern films do. It's amazing how many so called "film buffs" here missed the point.

Oops... sorry I guess I was mistaken. Yeah the CGI was really ahead of its time and the ironic part is that it isn’t even overused.
