He was lucky that Derek Lowe stole vote from Pedro in 2002 which allowed the wacky left to win his lone Cy Young Award in a year when he wasn't as good as either of those guys. He was definitely good for Oakland, but that's all he was, far from the pitcher the Giants thought they were getting when they made him a rich man.

I was flipping channels the other day and came across a 'Christian' channel on the radio and heard the name 'Barry Zito' and kept it on - was really a heart warming story about how he found happiness.

No, he wasn't a Hall of Famer, just a pretty good and at times great pitcher.
Easy to say he was a bust in San Fran, especially considering the contract, but Giants fans will never forget how big he was in the 2012 playoffs, especially coming up HUGE in the Game 5 of NLCS in St. Louis
