aj/shady/hofsake - what can you tell me about James Ennis III? assuming he's a dud as the Sixers just got him for future considerations from the Rockets (that to me screams cash) on another notes it's been reported Wesley Matthews intends to sign with the Pacers when he's bought out by the Knicks. Sixers were gunning for him - why would he join the Pacers when Oladipo is toast if he wants to win? Ennis is not that good defensively but he can have good days on the offensive side and can hit some 3s if he gets in the rhythm. He ain't bad but don't expect a role player that will provide any extra spark. Just so so but not bad.
And our guy Harden had asked for some help from Morey and our management gave Harden luxury tax savings. I can't believe it. All the teams are getting big names and we are having a salary dump. Our another rotation player in Ennis is gone now. Don't know if we can have someone in the buyout market. If not then we are doomed. We need a 6'9" PF who can shoot 3s and be good on defense. We thought we could get Markieff Morris but he also got traded to NO. It seems we are doomed. Our owner is bloody cheap.
Luxury Tax Savings will beat the warriors!

Bulls: A
The bad news: Porter is owed $27.3 million in 2019-20, then he has a player option for $28.5 million during the following season.
Aaaaand...that's about it.
Everything else is positive here, and the Bulls can afford to absorb an elevated salary for a high-end role player because so many of their key pieces are on cheap, rookie-scale contracts.
Porter's off-ball acumen should help him mesh perfectly with Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen, all of whom need the rock in order to maximize their skill sets. He plays defense, which helps make up for the defensive liabilities/projects taking the floor on a regular basis. He's willing to do the little things—always an important trait for a glue guy on an up-and-coming roster.
Maybe he makes the pursuit of top odds in the Zion Williamson sweepstakes a bit tougher, but that's a price Chicago should be willing to pay right now. Landing a player of Porter's caliber is hard, particularly when you're offering nothing more than two expiring contracts and a second-round pick conveyed years into the future.

Anybody else think the Lakers are screwed even during the offseason and free agents will bolt to the Clips if they want the L.A. life?
This AD/Lakers/Pels/LeBron drama has been intriguing on so many levels.
There was a pic of LeBron sitting by himself on the bench during the 42 point (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) blowout loss to the Pacers. Deservingly so. If you were Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Ingram, etc - would you want anything to do with him?
Even Walton. We saw this with the Cavs. LeBron has pretty much been the GM - coaches gone, players gone.
Now it's just him and the crew he tried to get traded and Walton who reportedly he's tried to get fired.
I'm not a LeBron Hater - but would be epic if the Clips signed 2 max free agents this offseason as we watched the Lake Show wallow around the 7th/8th seed or so as no top tier free agents go there.

Personally, I hope Kawhi goes to the Lakers, mainly because I win $100 bucks if he does. If those two never ever team up I'm out $200.

Apparently last year - the Sixers were the only other team (again somebody correct me if I'm wrong) granted a face to face interview with his 'people'. They literally flew out to L.A. That same night - LeBron signed with the Lakers. I cannot wait for this game - and for the Sixers to kick the living sh*t out of them - as LeBron is still there with Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Ingram, Walton & Crew. It's going to be great theater and the Philly crowd is going to be insane - ABC Game at 3:30pm

Boston vs. L.A. on TNT right now
Boston up 21-14.
Shot of LeBron sitting on the bench alone again with nobody next to him.
This is terrific.
Imagine if the whole team turns their back on him for the rest of the year.

I mean - Simmons had a chance to go to James or Giannis....just 2 people. but I agree - when I first saw that scroll that LeBron picked Simmons - I got an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I don't doubt Jo-Jo wants to stay here long term - he seems Philly. my fear - like you - is losing Simmons for nothing - to L.A. and they possibly get nothing in return.

Giannis took him and LeBron winced and cursed, the only reaction to any of Giannis picks. Giannis referred to Simmons as “your guy” when talking to James. After the draft, LeBron offered Westbrook for Simmons and Giannis accepted. LeBron said he wanted to give Westbrook and Embiid time to bond as teammates.

This was on live TV correct? i'll have to give it a watch. I just saw the scroll on ESPN that Simmons was on Team LeBron. perhaps the NBA playing up the Embiid/Westbrook feud too? - which I think is glorious theater - and I wanted to see how they interacted come All-Star Weekend but i'll have to give that a watch. you don't post much but you're a knowledgeable poster (and Philly fan). how did you like the tobias deal? and would you max Butler? fears about the bench or do you think they can solve that the buyout period and with Zhaire hopefully coming back........

The draft was the NBA Network. I was browsing the directv guide and saw it had been on for 12 minutes already. I tuned just about 30 seconds before the actual draft started. Giannis was actually pretty funny and reminded a lot of Embiid. It was also probably the most likeable I've ever seen of LeBron.
As for the Sixers trades, I didn't pay attention to the Clippers so I don't know much about Harris. That being said, I can't hate a deal that brings in a guy shooting 43% from beyond the arc and many said deserved to be an all-star. The Sixers needed another shooter and they seem to have gotten that. I like Shamet but he wasn't a starter as long as Ben Simmons is in the lineup. These last two games with Simmons and Shamet in the starting line up together just didn't work. The other stuff given up is nothing, including the draft picks.
Aside from Harris, I'm kind of excited for Boban Marjanovic. I've been binge watching youtube videos of Boban and he is entertaining as can be. I think he'll be an instant favorite in Philly.
A while back, I said Fultz would never wear a Sixers uniform again. I was correct. His bridge was burnt after rumors of him asking for a trade.
I think the Sixer bench issues are somewhat overblown today. It's not a great bench but most benches are crap.
Also, not a fan of Butler but I think they have to try to sign him. Last summer was fairly obvious that free agents aren't ready to come to Philly regardless of how much money is on the table. Klay Thompson isn't coming to Philly this summer. Kawhi isn't coming. Kemba is not coming.

Unlike the superbowl, tonight's Boston/LA game was defense optional. Playoff Rondo showed up and hit the game winner on a loose ball. Lebron triple dub with 5 3s, lots of role players on each team hit big shots.

Supposedly, Portis is the better player and makes less money. I am not sure if I agree with that, but that is what everyone keeps saying.
