He's still popular and successful. The Beatles, Wings, solo work, etc. Never seen any downturn in his career.

I agree. I think John and Paul both started going downhill when the Beatles broke up. Yes, they did go on to write some good songs, but none were in the same league as their Beatle compositions. I think they were at their best when they had their friendly competiton, had one another to bounce ideas off of, or had the other to let them know when something wasn't up to par.

When he got old. Creative musicians only have so much creativity in them, then the well runs dry. They are straining to produce new music and it isn't as inspired a the stuff that came so freely in their younger lives. Also styles change and they can't change with the times.

I'm reminded, sort of off topic, but on the topic of Paul McCartney, of a time during the 80s, when we listened to car radios a lot more.
I remember even way back then, listening to a young woman, sounded like an adult, but couldn't have been over 21 considering what she said, who called in to the DJ and spoke to the DJ.
She said her friends told her Paul McCartney was in a group before he was in "Wings', and she wanted to know if that was true.
Never heard a DJ laugh so hard in my life. Because she was either the best actress in Louisville, or she was completely serious. I couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.
This was in the eighties, which made it even more remarkable.
