"Turkish Delight" and "Ali: Fear Eats the Soul" and "Mean Streets" would be my favorite films from that year. But 1973 was a fantastic year for movies. I haven't seen any of those films Mr. Dirty. I don't get too excited about 73', and there were some excellent films, but overall, I don't feel it is one of my favorites from the 70's. The 73 films appear to sit on a mostly equal level plane of quality, although difference, but I don't get any absolute wow factors out of them. I kind of know what you mean, Toasted Cheese. There's no rhyme or reason to it, but 1974 produced way more movies that would be in my top 200 than 1973. And the same goes for 1972, I would say. Though, the 3 movies from 1973 that I put down I love very, very much. I'm going to be very obsessive-compulsive here, as I post my favorite years from the decade, in order. 1st place - 1971 (by a long shot) 2nd place - 1975 3rd place - 1976 4th place - 1978 5th place - 1974 6th place - 1970 7th place - 1977 8th place - 1972 9th place - 1973 10th place - 1979 (by a long shot) |
