Out of these ten to choose from.
I love them all, but I have to go with Ruth Gordon, "Rosemary's Baby"

I like several of the actresses, if not all the films they appeared in, but Ruth Gordon in ROSEMARY'S BABY is hard to beat.

I love her first scene how Minnie checks out Rosemary and Guy and feels the need to cock her eyewear to the side. Priceless. And when she conveniently runs into Rosemary downtown (when Rosemary is supposed to meet her friend) and Minnie hails a taxi by blowing on a referee's whistle. Or when she starts choking on her 'vodka blush' when Roman spills some drink on the carpet. This is some seriously funny stuff. And I have a feeling that these little touches were the result of Miss Gordon's fertile imagination. She was the best!

In other words.... so ?
Just what is your point ?

dirtypillowsRuth Gordon is so great in everything. Check out the YouTube video of her Oscar acceptance speech. It's a HOOT ! (very slow connect here today so cannot get to it to post it … maybe you'd have better luck ) She guest stars in one of the best Columbo episodes.

(very slow connect here today so cannot get to it to post it … maybe you'd have better luck ) She guest stars in one of the best Columbo episodes. "Try and Catch Me"! Oh, that is one of my 2 or 3 favorite episodes from that wonderfully entertaining (and classy) show! Abigail Mitchell! Ruth Gordon is a stitch! Lawyer friend: "Abigail, you are the most exasperating person I know!" Abigail: "Oh, I accept ALL superlatives!" And Miss Gordon was 78 years old when she did the show and still sharp as a tack! I always did wonder, in this episode, if her nephew was actually guilty or not. (What a horrible death!) The scene on the beach where they are facing each other and Abigail very slyly says "I know what you did. Everything you did." And it's a total double entendre and the horses gallop by, and it's such a stand still! So much gets said in those 3 or 4 seconds of silence!

Just what is your point ? Ironic that they tried to use a "joke" almost as old as the films they were intending to mock.

Hard to chose between Kramer and Tootsie but Tootsie has had a more lasting effect on me so I voted for Jessica.
I would give her the Oscar just for the last scene of that movie alone. They both act so incredibly well in it, you can feel all of those emotions and dialogue just feom the first few looks after she steps out of the door.
That movie doesnt age.
So cleverly written and directed and with such superb cast. Just incredibly well put together.
Including the soundtrack.
ps- I have not seen Rosemarys Baby since I was a teenager so I dont really remember it well enough to include it for my consideration.

Jessica Lange in "Tootsie" is very natural and likeable. I read somewhere that Jessica had just got done filming "Frances" and was emotionally exhausted from the experience (which I can totally believe) and then she was offered the role of Julie in "Tootsie" and her "Frances" co-star, Kim Stanley, suggested to Lange to take the role as it would be lightweight and pleasant and nowhere near as demanding as FF and that it would do Jessica some real good to play the part. Makes perfect sense to me.
