Ya know, if I wasn't sharing my Netflix account with three broke humps, I'd cancel it. Hee hee hee...

What the heck is going on?
I thought it was odd that Iron Fist was cancelled but could understand if the viewings weren't very good after a poor first season but now Luke Cage as well?
If any of them needed cancelling it was Jessica Jones. Well here's hoping they make Heroes for Hire.

Jessica Jones is next. If they think Iron Fist and Luke Cage season 2 were bad enough to cancel then Jessica Jones has to be next. The second season was terrible.
Luke Cage Season 2 was just okay, a bit slow. I liked Bushmaster and I wish he'd been the only villain of the season. I didn't care for Mariah and Shades. We got gypped on Misty. We see her in her comic book costume ready to take it to Mariah at the end of season 1 and then that's seemingly forgotten about. I was hoping to see her go vigilante or become a PI.
If anything it had more of a solid ending than Iron Fist did.

I never bothered with Iron Fist or Jessica Jones however I enjoyed Luke Cage season 1 for the most part. However it went downhill after they killed off Ali's character (forget his name) imo. I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes of season 2 and quit as I just wasn't getting into it. Defenders I thought sucked so I wont be interested if they do a season 2 (which isn't looking likely). I plan on watching Daredevil season 3 this weekend so hopefully that's good. Punisher was solid and it's getting a 2nd season as per set photos released suggests anyways.
So as long as Daredevil stays good and Punisher keeps going I'll be content. Wonder if any of this has to do with Disney's streaming service coming and them pulling things from Netflix or Hulu. I'd find it odd if Disney puts these types of shows on it's streaming service. Like, imagine you're a 5 year old kid and watching Mickey Mouse only to then have Punisher pop up and start killing people within minutes. Doesn't seem to fit but maybe they're going to do there own versions of stuff like this? Maybe more animated stuff instead? Wish they'd bring back Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That show was good. They were about to introduce the X-Men in the next season before it got cancelled. I would have loved that.

Up to five people can be "watching" Netflix, and only one of them has to be a cash paying subscriber. Netflix's business model revolves around attracting new subscribers to its service every quarter --- without fail. New and exclusive content is their primary means of achieving this goal. In the beginning, Marvel shows attracted new subscribers. People who otherwise would not have paid for Netflix joined and remained cash-paying subscribers. Come for the superheroes - stay for all of the other garbage. These days, Marvel shows don't attract new Netflix subscribers. Add to that the fact that their partner, Marvel/Disney, is about to become their most fierce competition and you have a recipe for preemptive strikes. Now Marvel/Netflix fans are in a very peculiar position. It is now in our best interest to pray for all of the shows to get canceled. We can't leave the IP in the hands of a volatile competitor. Hee hee hee... And now the great streaming wars begin. Can you say, Disney Streaming and Chill?

I fear Disney will do less edgy Marvel shows, a loss for sure If you want "edge-lord" shows, Millar-World is coming to Netflix. That is the real reason why Iron Fist and Luke Cage bit the dust. If Disney puts Fox's entire library on their streaming service, they will have already entered the "edgy" business. They're just a stone's throw away from a new imprint that frees them up to be brutal when they have to be. After all, they will have to compete with Netflix and, they can't do that without some adult content. Canceling Luke Cage on virtully the same day that Daredevil debuted is a massive disrespect to hardcore Marvel/MCU fans. Mark my words when I say, they will pay for that slight. I'm not watching Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix. I'm going to wait for home media... The fire rises.

I think it was mentioned but it most likely has to do with Disney's own streaming service. They're going to have to pull their stuff from Netflix eventually. My impression from the Iron Fist report was that the character (therefore actor) will live on. It'll probably be the same with Luke Cage.
At least they were cancelled after their swan song seasons instead of mid preparation.
I can't say I'm very enamored of a Disney streaming service. I watch the movies and shows so I'm already towing a fine line between enabling Disney's greed and doing it for myself. A streaming service for Disney only that can only come from taking away their content from everywhere else really teeters that line between dizzying levels of money and greed that I don't know if I can get behind. If Disney goes full Netflix then the era of shut up and take my money might be over for me.
