Rewatched this because all I could remember from it was the ending. It's so 2000's, but with that great Wes Craven flair, a bit Scream-ish in many ways. Didn't know this at the time but apparently the production was chaotic, with recastings and reshoots galore, going long past it's end production date, mostly due to producer interference. We can blame Harvey Weinstein for that too. You get two Lex Luthors for the price of one: Michael Rosenbaum and Jesse Eisenberg are both in this! Features a pre-stardom Milo Ventimiglia and Nick Offerman and a post-stardom Scott Baio as Scott Baio. Keep your eyes peeled for The Walking Dead makeup artist/director, Greg Nicotero and the late Gary Dubin ("Swim, Eddie, Swim!" from Jaws 2). It's enjoyable enough, and the werewolf looks really great. There's a bit of a twist at the end, which is typical of most Kevin Williamson scripts. Loved that first kill!

I heard so many bad things about this movie before seeing it and I knew of the production chaos. Ended up really enjoying it.

I think I only enjoyed this when I saw it because I knew of the chaotic production going in. Especially that batshit crazy moment at the end when the werewolf flips off the cops or whoever, when you could clearly tell that was Wes Craven directing that toward the Weinstein's.
...also it featured Craig Kilborn as a prominent story point in a way that nobody could have knwom would become so quickly irrelevant.

It's pictured above, but this illustrates what you are referring to much better!

I'd love to see the original version, or what's left of it. I actually read the script, and it's so much better than the movie.

movie was pretty garbage despite decent cast. I think Harvey fucked over the movie.

improved on second viewing after initially finding it a tad trashy and throwaway. Bumped it from 4/10 - 5/10. A laugh, and Christina Ricci brightens things up.

The only things I remember about this movie are...
The use of 'Little Red Riding Hood' as the opening song, which was about the only thing I actually liked in the film.
The werewolf transformation was...not good.
The geyser of CGI blood that shoots out of Joshua Jackson's neck after Christina Ricci bites him in a dream sequence.

movie was pretty garbage despite decent cast. I think Harvey fucked over the movie. It's a guilty pleasure for me. But yes. The movie started out starring Illeana Douglas, Omar Epps, Skeet Ulrich,Mandy Moore, etc. Most had filmed their scenes. Plus there was practical effects and more gore. But of course the Weinsteins had them start all over again watering it down to PG-13. The original cast had moved on and had to be re-cast.

It's hard to watch the movie without taking into account "what could have been." Taken at face value, it's a fun movie with some interesting concepts that just never quite come together. 6/10
