Let me rephrase that: Musicians whose albums you'd buy but whom you wouldn't see in a concert?
In case you can't think of any, a good way to do it is to look at movies and TV. If a musician with no acting training gives a good performance despite not playing themselves (or a semi-version of themselves), it's because they were able to translate their stage presence into a screen presence.

The Grateful Dead spoiled me. The only way I want to spend $40 or more on a concert ticket is if they jam out where it sounds nothing at all like what they record. Why bother spending the big bucks to see them live when I hear exactly what they do on stage on a CD? Fleet Foxes is like this. Beautiful music, great harmonies and good lyrics. But the videos I watch, they don't stray at all from what I hear through my boom box.

If a musician can be on stage and sing/play a song, then that's good enough for me. They don't need to do fancy stunts, dancing, etc.

Can't remember Kurt Cobain doing any crazy things on stage.

Sia. Obviously talented, but she plays with her back to the audience and or face covered. Don't think you get less stage presence than that.

It's weird how Sia wears a mask even though she didn't for years and everyone knows what she looks like anyway.

A few years back Sigur Ros did an American tour and the opening performance was literally a guy sitting behind a laptop, a small synthesizer, and a mixing board. He could have literally just been playing something off his laptop and browsing eBay. I wish I could remember the "performer's" name. No stage presence. The music was pretty interesting, I don't know if I'd buy his album, it was just sounds with very little or no rhythm. Kind of ambient.

Can't remember Kurt Cobain doing any crazy things on stage. I thought it was a thing that he would sing/perform songs new weird ways every time on a stage. Smashing his guitars was like cathartic, that guitar would only play/perform that song that one way once & be ceased. I've their Muddy Banks & Reading live albums, throwing things off key was more fun or something, esp vocals. He didn't even want to overdub his guitar for Smells Like Teen Spirit for Nevermind because he wished for live recording.

If that was what he was doing, I gotta go and see some more videos.

Lots goin' on.

Can't be a good time when you take a shotgun to your head.
