(That's what I've been trying to do with the question threads that everyone hates). ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
You do have some ideas for good threads. You have potential … and from the few times you have actually written more than a word or two ..it appears that you are not a total loser. Perhaps a paragraph long intro note now and again ? anyway … if this is not seen as saying something "nice" ... hey, I tried!

I think this thread is a great idea, Nora. Unfortunately, a side effect for people like me, who pretty much already know they are total losers, is that when we don't get a single mention - not even from someone I've chatted with about movies for two years now - it tends to validate our low opinion of ourselves and reinforce the idea that message boards are like high school cliques. So with that said, for anyone who didn't get mentioned: thank you for your contributions to this site. Even if I disagree with you or dislike your threads, I am glad you are here and contributing to discussions. (That's what I've been trying to do with the question threads that everyone hates). ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I do get that part, and thought about that effect. That is why I put down the limitation of 5 users per post, because one would surely come up with more users they had something nice about it, but maybe it comes in waves so people keep adding new posts with new 5 users gradually. Maybe 10-15 people responded and ok you may not be in their top 5 but that doesnt mean you are in nobodys top five or everybody's bottom 5. And if not, you know, hey, we ALL know that feeling in one way or another. For example in the who has the best avatar thread I was kinda hurt nobody appreciated my alpaca (whats wrong with you people??) but this is part of the everyday experience, we cant be everybodys top 5 any we may even be nobodys top 5 on here and thats ok. (even though I get that it sucks). if it makes you feel any better, I havent put your name down for a very simple reason: I dont feel like I know anything about you. You may be the greatest guy, but I simply dont know it and I can say the same thing about 99% of the users here. And not responding to me when I say I thought of you one day and specifically ask you something, doesnt really help me to get to know anything about you that I may later like? you know? imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/122184/feel-pretty-good-brings-crashingAnyway hope you dont let this thread get you too down. its not worth it.

However, it is just a fact of life that certain people just tend to have more of a common connection or bond with others. Some people are also less introverted than others and as much as we may protest or judge, cliques are also a part of life and have always existed. In school, the pops hung out with the pops, the jocks hung out with the jocks and the losers hung out with other losers, so everyone belongs to some sort of clique or club. And heck, even if the pops and the jocks made fun of the losers, the losers are not entirely noble or exonerated. They made fun of the pops and the jocks.
I commented that since we were only allowed five, I made an apology to those that I didn't list and are still awesome. It is perhaps not wise to single out some posters over others, this is still a call out thread in a sense and that is why they are technically against the rules. It was just from a different perspective and Nora 's intention. I know. Doesn't make it suck any less, though.

Chalice_Of_Evil and HirundoRustica It's nice to see that you are still playing that movie trivia game I started over a year ago. Your ability to find screenshots never ceases to amaze me. It's fun peeking in to see what you have come up with. Apologies for not mentioning you before now, BATouttaheck, but I've only had short periods of time to post in this thread (I've been posting whenever I've had a spare moment - which isn't very often or for too long) and I knew that I had quite a bit to say in regards to you, so I wanted to take the proper time and not rush things. Firstly, I wanted to say thank you for starting the screenshot game. I hadn't participated in any games on here really, then I saw your one and, being someone who likes pictures, I thought it was just the game for me. I still remember my first picture I posted in the thread/first request I made. Without checking, I can say with all certainty that the first picture I posted was from the fourth Harry Potter movie (after someone had requested dancing at a ball or something similar - but specified that it not be a prom) and I requested a screenshot of a female member of the Fae folk (someone replied with a lovely picture of Michelle Pfeiffer from the 1999 film A Midnight Summer's Dream - and that's what got me hooked on playing the game, as I realised I could discover pictures/movies I'd never seen/heard of before). I've enjoyed participating in that thread and was actually worried that I'd almost 'killed' the thread by posting in it so often. I didn't know that you still checked in on it, but that's nice to hear. You're one of the first people I can remember who 'tagged' me (and who I 'tagged' back - as I was unsure if it was alright to do so without checking with the other person first) and you also encouraged me to start a thread on the Classic Film board - which has led to me starting numerous threads there (to which you usually reply - and I appreciate all the replies to my threads there, including yours). We like some of the same movies/shows and both are fans of Audrey Hepburn - though, as Catman said in his 'old, dead thread' (and he probably hates me bringing up the subject of this thread again...sorry, Catman): 'Then again, who doesn't like Audrey Hepburn?'. I know I might not always get to replying to all of yours threads, but I do try to. I enjoy them. Thanks for encouraging me on the Classic Film board. As I said in the 'Appreciation' thread there, I think it's the nicest board on here that I've visited. And lastly, because I haven't remembered to say it before now...I really like your new wolf avatar. I think it's great. anthonyrocks - I think it's awesome that you enjoy posting pictures/GIFs of actors/actresses/etc that you are a fan of and I've enjoyed posting pictures/GIFs of people/movies/shows I'm a fan of in your threads too. We seem to like quite a lot of the same movies/actresses. Thanks especially for starting the 'Post a GIF from the last movie that you watched’ thread and your A-Z threads (most recently the TV show one). You always seem civil, which is much-appreciated. Thanks for being someone else who enjoys posting images as much as I do. FridayOnElmStreet - I admire your ability to post gruesome shots from movies and such without flinching. I wish I had built up as much of a tolerance for all things gory as you. I certainly don't shy away from all blood/violence in films and TV shows...but there are certainly limits to what I can stand looking at. Thanks for also liking some posts of mine, as it's been interesting to see what things we have in common that we like. Your love of horror movies is something I also think is great. loofapotato - Thank you for helping to keep mine and Hirundo's threads (where we ask for people's favourite sexy cops, Kings/Queens/Princes/Princes, etc) alive. You and other posters have posted in these threads despite them having been pushed back many pages previously, and I for one am grateful for that. I also appreciate the fact that, like me, you enjoy posting multiple pictures of your favourites. It's most welcome.marth - I've liked quite a lot of the things you've posted and I appreciate finding someone who posts things I like and can voice similar opinions to mine...but in a much better way than I could. Thanks also for being so nice/understanding when I first sent you a PM. I enjoys your posts and the fact that we like a fair amount of the same things. Chalice_Of_Evil
You are one of the nicest and most helpful members on this board. I also think you are one of the most underrated 'cause you put a lot of time and effort into your posts and are very intelligent. I always enjoy talking to you and seeing your posts and I consider you a good friend.
Thank you for your kind words, DebLovesBeccy. I think it's a testament to just how awesome a person you are - the fact that so many people have nice things to say about you (not just in this thread, but other ones as well). This place certainly wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks for being such a good friend and such an awesome person. Nora - for being the kind of person to come up with an upbeat post like this in the first place! Also, very friendly and intelligent and some of the threads she starts actually make me stop and think for a bit.
Toasted Cheese - for being his generous self and his humor, also he read my "Charlie's Angels", so I know he is a real friend. (And we've been online chums for I am thinking over ten years now. He has imparted some real, solid personal advice over the years, too, don't even know if he knows this or, but "Ya helped me!") Finally, for his true and deep love for Nancy Parsons and Susan Tyrell. Anybody who loves these two ladies is an 'A+" in my book.
Fox in the Snow - for having great taste in movies and for being friendly and always responsive
ant-mac - for his low key, laid back manner, and for his good taste in sexy women (and men! I am referring to Burt Reynolds here!)
salzmank - for being interesting and kind and having an interest in Shirley Jackson and for having the coolest avatar on IMDB (2nd place, to whomever has the Linda Blair/Sara T. avatar)
amy-ghost - just for loving Shirley Jackson, we would likely share some world view points, me thinks...
deem bastile - for being a good-hearted individual who likes my posts
also, on a bittersweet note, ...to all the people on the old IMDB who were regulars on the "Charlie's Angels" boards. Especially the woman who loved Sabrina Duncan just as much as I did! I can't remember any of your handles, but I miss you all so much! I looked forward to visiting the CA boards every day and reading what you had to say about this long ago tv show that somehow was still important to us! (LatinFilms, you were one. Oh, how you loved Tiffany Wells! God bless ya!) And to Totallyrad80, for starting up that extremely fun "tv episode elimination" game. I couldn't wait each day to see what episode had just been bumped off! And after all these years, I still remember the winners (and runners-up) from each season! And heck if I'm going to post them, too! No reason not to!
1st season - winner: "Dancing in the Dark"; runner-up - "Consenting Adults" 2nd season - winner: "The Jade Trap"; runner-up - "Angels in Paradise" 3rd season - winner: "Winning is For Losers"; runner-up - "Angels in Springtime" (go, Zora!) 4th season - winner: "Angel Hunt"; runner - up - "Three For the Money" 5th season - winner: "Island Angels"; runner-up - "Angel on the Line" (run, Kelly, there's a blonde tranny with a switchblade coming after you!)

... when we don't get a single mention - not even from someone I've chatted with about movies for two years now - where is the mention BY you of this friend you have "chatted with" for two years ?
There is no clique here... just a bunch of people from all over the forum who have enjoyed positive interactions with each other and are taking this opportunity to say so. …. if you feel left out it's at least partly because you have not joined in … isn't it ?

As far as I'm concerned, we're all on the same level here. We're movie lovers first and foremost since this is a version of IMDB. You don't have to have any special background for that.

ghostintheshell I think I can safely say I am above the common computer user as far as certain tech stuff goes, mainly in certain areas (like computers etc), at the very least. but it just depends on what area it is... like some computer stuff I know next to nothing about, like coding for example is like hieroglyphics to me ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ; but certain areas, like general computers, I am decent at mostly because it boils down to using them for a long time now along with reading up on some stuff I have a bit more interest in. but with that tech stuff out of the way... I think you might be a little too generous with the movie compliment there. like I guess I am decent on movie comments within a limited range but I consider myself average at best when it comes to describing anything in great detail about movies as when it comes to reviewing movies for example I just am not that good with words to do that kind of stuff and in this regard I would expect some users around here (maybe most?) to be easily superior to myself overall. but I do think I got a solid rating system for sure that's at least as good as most people around here as when you see those occasional topics turn up with a 1 through 10 rating scale and a brief description of what each score means it seems most are similar as even though they might use different wording you can tell they mean pretty much the same thing. but about the only area I see peoples rating scales vary in a very basic sense... like some consider a 7/10 or higher as a positive and a 6/10 and lower as a negative and then there are some who consider a 6/10 or higher as a positive and a 5/10 or lower as a negative. I used to be among the 7 and higher group as a positive until I think it was Sep 2014 I adjusted back to my basic... "6/10 or higher = Thumbs Up. 5/10 or lower = Thumbs Down" as using the previous system was simply TOO limiting as I had to jam too many movies I only mildly liked into the 7/10 bracket even though there was some 7's I liked quite a bit more than others etc. so changing things back to a 6/10 and higher a positive pretty much solved that problem. with that said... I am aware that some people around here consider 'average' (generally a 5/10 (maybe a 6/10 tops for some people) as I tend to use the rating scale pretty evenly in that 5 is center/average and then goes up and down fairly evenly from there) as neither positive nor negative but, in my mind, it's ultimately a negative because something that's middle-of-the-road (say maybe decent enough for a viewing but has no re-watch value) like that is average and average is ultimately forgettable. hence, Thumbs Down in a very basic sense. because for me... movies are ultimately split into two groups in a very basic sense... Thumbs Up(worth re-watching) or Thumbs Down (not worth re-watching) which for me is 6/10 or higher or 5/10 or lower. but basically... I started watching quite a few more movies around the year 2003 (I would have been 23-24 years old at that time) and my general rating system etc has evolved since because once a person see's plenty of movies they can start to get a much better picture of what stands out to them vs 'just another movie' sort of thing and I rate accordingly. because while I never been that great with putting a bunch of my thoughts/feelings about a movie into words, I do consider myself pretty good at that in a simplified form which is the score I give a movie pretty much tells others how much I really connect with it. because like I always say... movies ultimately come back to how much the viewer is interested in what's happening on screen which pretty much boils down to some sort of emotional response/feeling they give the viewer when watching it all play out. so the higher of a degree it does that(emotional response/feeling in a positive way) the higher the score and the further away from that the lower the score.
with that said... as time passed, some movies I use to think more highly of have fallen off as the general volume of 9/10's and 10/10's have declined with time. but I suspect, at least some of it, has to do with the natural aging process as, while I don't know for sure, I suspect when one is younger they are more easily pleased then once someone gets a bit of age on them because they have experienced less stuff etc. but then again some people might just be more easily pleased straight up than others are. but I always wondered if it's possible those people who tend to like a lot of what they see might not have as intense of pleasure watching those movies as say myself who tends to like a much smaller portion of what I see but maybe I enjoy them more intensely. but this is a bit of speculation as it's kind of hard to prove simply because it's not like I can get into someones head and feel what they are feeling while they watch a movie etc. but occasionally some movies improve with time/re-watches.
also, I always had a hunch there will be some movies that I currently think more highly of will remain that way in say 10-20-30+ years of time from now even though I do expect some movies I currently think more highly of will eventually drop off for me. but it's probably a bit harder to guess which ones will remain strong decades from now given some movies have taken a hit for me in say roughly the last 5 years that, back around those days, I kind of assumed would stay that way for me (given they have for roughly 10-15+ years) but did not.
but thanks for the compliment(s) ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif) Yeah, I have been participating in those threads for years now with an occasional miss if it slips my mind etc. but with that said... I should probably consider reading some others comments a bit more in darksidebeadle's weekly thread than I currently do as I largely just read the OP's (darksidebeadle) movies/comments about what that person has seen that week and then make a quick rating and maybe some basic comments on what movies that person has seen that week and then post my own and then read that persons reply. but outside of what I said above... I don't really check out what others post much in that thread. but maybe I should start at least skimming through the first page or so of others comments about what movies they seen that particular week as it might be worth replying to others comments once in a while had I read their comments. but since I have been doing that basic pattern for years now, it will probably be hard to break it. just some thoughts ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
