EPIX is making a Alfred Pennyworth series. Young Alfred is a former SAS agent who starts a security company that works for billionaire Thomas Wayne in 1960's London. From the makers of Gotham. Jack Bannon will playing him: Like Ralph Garmen said if he works security for Thomas Wayne then... "Why the fuck does he become a fucking butler."

Sounds interesting. Gotham is probably my favourite DC TV show, and it features one of my favourite Alfreds

He bears a striking resemblance to Alden Ehrenreich.

Ya'll all know that I love me some DC, but nothing could interest me less than this project. Bottom line... Why do we need this?

Since Gotham is ending, this appears a way for them to make another Gotham-type show with hopefully similar high rating to Gotham.

The basic idea seems preposterous and based on the attitude of milking it to no end. However, all will depend on the writing and execution.

He bears a striking resemblance to Alden Ehrenreich. nah, he bears not - rather to Harrison Ford who resembles nothing like Alden Ehrenreich, strikingly so.

The basic idea seems preposterous and based on the attitude of milking it to no end. However, all will depend on the writing and execution. Good writing can excuse a lot, but unless this has Shakespearean levels of writing I don't think it's going to overcome the basic idea it's based on. I could be wrong. I'll give it a shot, but I'm not expecting much. (Low expectations has helped me enjoy things in the past)

The push to expand and intensify Alfred's "legend" over the last decade has now officially sunken into the valley of complete absurdity. Who at DC is pushing this "Alfred as badass" agenda? Was he or she a former domestic that feels his or her colleagues need better representation in super heroics? Step into the light, good sir - lay down your service tray on the table for all to see.
Mark my words, it won't be long before some writer and editor, both bereft of a single modicum of sanity, posit that Alfred is, was or will somehow be Batman.
I have never seen a publisher go to these lengths to infuse such an intrinsically dull supporting character with artificial life. In the immortal words of the man himself, "Godspeed, sir."
I passed on this long before it was ever conceived.
