Around 2005 I would usually be sweeping away leaves that had fallen from branches by October 15. This year, they haven't even started falling yet.
Last year, by mid September, the sun would hit the computer screen in the living room by 3 pm. This year, it only started to do so last week--so a month later.

I get what you mean about the leaves. I don't think our solar alignment has changed though, could the drapes or screen angle have changed?
Think of all the stoneage ruins that still align on the solstices.

The leaves falling makes me a little depressed knowing that the cold winter is on the way.

ck100I had 1/2 the leaves in the yard raked up and ready to put into bags and it snowed ! Had to wait for the snow to melt and the leaves to dry off. That tree lined lane is pretty but cripes ..do they really need THAT many leaves ! argh !

If anything, I can just go over the lawn with a mower and turn the leaves into mulch.

There has been a definite "weather shift" . I have what they call everbearing raspberries that have fruit in the early summer and again in the fall. Years ago, I would lose the fall berries because the frost hit them before they ripened, usually in early Se4ptember. The past few years they have bene bearing into late September and this year the frost didn't stop them until the 2nd week of October.

ck100 I have about twenty 100 year old maples lining the drive to the house and I like the leaves for the gardens come summer so Bag-We-Must ! I have one of those lawn sweeper things that get pulled by the riding mower but went the rake route this year. Leaf blower is too heavy to lug around for as long as it would be needed and raking is "good exercise" .. yeah right ! The snow wasn't heavy but it did stick for a couple of days and was a bit worrysome. Am north of you in Northern Wisconsin

Jesus, you probably get it worse than me although in Illinois it sometimes feels like we have it worse (and we've had). lol.

ck100 not really for decoration … for mulch … eliminates some of the weeding if you put down leaves, grass clippings etc but it takes a lot of mulch ! I don't bother composting it .. just pile it on ! BIG yard ? yes, very ! also BIG vegetable garden, orchard and flower beds. <and an ache-ing back !> Illinois gets cold but Wisconsin colder !

Geese have made themselves at home around a small pond at the park I live next to- mostly all year instead of the spring and summer.
