I love Judas Priest but I hated their "Turbo" album. It grew on me a little more as time went on. What about "Out in the cold". THat's a great song. And Private Property kinda rocks.

Belle and Sebastian - "Suki in the Graveyard', not a big fan of the album, The Life Pursuit in general. Saint Etienne - "Heart Failed in the Back of a Taxi" Beat Happening - "Pajama Party in a Haunted Hive"

I listened to the album only once. I hated it so much that I refused to keep it around and gave it away. We all hated it at the time. I rented the vinyl from the library at the time and probably didn't listen to it again for a good 15 years. I actually had the same feeling about 7th son of a seventh son which is now so many people's favorite album. But time wasn't as kind to the turbo album. Everybody was going for that commercial radio sound so all the metal bands were getting soft which was very frustrating for me at that period.

It's funny you should mention "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". I remember that Iron Maiden released "Somewhere in Time" later in the same year Judas Priest released "Turbo". I read that Maiden, like Priest, was using guitar synthesizers for the first time. So I bought "Somewhere in Time" with some trepidation, but to my relief it still sounded like Maiden. But Priest was barely recognizable on "Turbo". As for "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", I thought it was not as good as "Somewhere in Time". It was the performance of "The Clairvoyant" from Flight 666 that finally motivated me to rebuy the album on CD.

I did end up liking the album many years later. The Clairvoyant is a great song. Between that and infinite dreams, moonchild, the evil that men do, it's a great album. Just at the time I wanted the old Maiden back like the Powerslave style. The Clairvoyant has sort of been a staple at the live shows so I was able to see them play that live many times and it's a great live track. But I really am a huge fan of the first 7 albums. It just took me awhile to warm up to that one.

My impression remains that "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" was another album in the "Somewhere in Time" style, but not quite as successful overall as its predecessor.

From what I remember, the band was still successful in the states but they had to scale down and play smaller places. They lost a bunch of the fanbase.
