I remember seeing Memoirs of an Invisible Man when quite young, thinking the visual effects were at least neat. That was about 25 years ago. Now? probably wouldn't care for it.

When it comes to the Movies that he made after the 80's, I have just seen "ESCAPE FROM L.A." and "GHOSTS OF MARS" and they were both Terrible.
Although, even though he didn't make the movie, I actually do like John Carpenter's work with the Music in the New "HALLOWEEN" Movie.
He definitely did a Great Job with that!

Memoirs of an Invisible Man, without a doubt. Such an underrated movie. Village of the Damned would be my 2nd choice.

Truthfully I don't really care for much of Carpenter's efforts post 1980s. The only one that stands out for me is Vampires.

I've only seen memoirs once. I could try it again.
In the mouth of madness - 5 ghosts of mars - 4 escape from L.A. - 3 village of the damned - 3 memoirs of an invisible man - 3 vampires - 2 the ward - 2 body bags (segment) - 1

In the Mouth of Madness
I think it's one of his best films.

The only thing I've seen is Escape From L.A. and I think it's not that bad.

In the Mouth of Madness has the most old style Carpenter sensibility--with Vampires next. I wish Vampires had increased the horror instead of the road movie western aspects.
Ghost of Mars felt like a missed opportunity. Lots of potential for suspense.

I've enjoyed all his post 80s films. Escape From LA probably my favourite.
Memoirs Of An Invisible Man is very good but I'm a little conflicted - Carpenter is my favourite director, and Memoirs one of my favourite scifi novels...sadly the film doesn't do the book justice. The novel is definitely ripe for a TV mini series adaptation
