I didn't know the first film was successful enough that it got a sequel. It's not like the first film was really needing one. Anyway, it's been 25 years since this sequel has come out. What do you all think of it?
While the film is admittedly dumb and silly, I find it to be kind of fun for some reason as long as you keep your expectations in check. I certainly don't think it's as bad as critics have made it out to be over the years. It's kind of a guilty pleasure.
Yes, I know of the "Seinfeld" episode in which Elaine rents the film and hates it as she watches it.

I thought the original Bernie's was a mediocre film to begin with, then due it to being available on Netflix, I saw the sequel.
Ugh. It's one of the worst films I've ever seen. Didn't they play some Caribbean music to make Bernie dance or something? It reminded me of Blues Brothers 2000...which isn't a good thing.

Yeah, he has some voodoo curse put on him which is supposed to make him come alive but doesn't fully and just makes him dance and walk in the direction of the hidden money. It's a load of malarkey, but you just go with it.

Yeah, the two movies were never meant to be something "meaningful"... They were just meant to be a couple of popcorn films meant to take your mind of your troubles for a few hours and just have a bit of nonsense fun. I actually enjoyed both films. I think the first one is better, but the second one had it's moments too... I thought Bernie going Conga Line Dancing was quite funny.

The movies are self-aware that they're dumb and silly. They don't take themselves seriously and neither should you. Don't go in expecting Citizen Kane. Just kick back and go along for an amusing ride.
I like how Barry Bostwick goes nuts and then gets the injection at the end of the film with that goofy look on his face.
"Got your bag?"
"Yes, I've got my bag".

Director John Landis eve said: "It’s meant for ten-year-olds". Some might say, it so stupid, it's actually funny... Another film, I don't mind watching every once in a while...

Never seen The Stupids, but I'm sure you're correct in your assessment of that particular film. I mean any movie with such a title is clearly not going for high quality.

I'm with OP on this one. Dumb, but some enjoyable moments.
