Father Jerry (Pat O'Brien) in Angels With Dirty Faces, who admits that he became a priest instead of a criminal because he could run faster as a kid than his friend Rocky (James Cagney). Mother Maria (Lilia Skala) who cannily induces Sidney Poitier to do her bidding in Lilies of the Field. Novitiate Maria (Julie Andrews) in The Sound of Music. She was too busy spinning around in circles on the tops of mountains to actually achieve full nunhood, but she could really sing (as could one of the nuns in her order, played by Marni Nixon, who not only could sing for herself, but also "ghost sang" for several other Hollywood stars). Even better, the nuns who vandalize the Nazi vehicles at the end of the movie. The rabbi in Fiddler on the Roof who figures out a way to  dance with the opposite sex at a wedding. Kathy Najimy in Sister Act. Rosalind Russell and her sister staff in The Trouble With Angels, who were all secretly cool. Honorable mentions: The nuns in Problem Child who can't hide their glee when the "problem" kid at their orphanage finally gets adopted. The priest on the flight in Airport who smoothly segues from a prayerful sign of the cross to a well-deserved smack in the face to a hysterical fellow passenger. |

Monsignor Muller (Rubert Davies) in Dracula Has Risen From the Grave
Also Ewan Hooper as the Priest---demoralized by a body found in his church, becomes Dracula's unwilling servant, then has to work with an atheist to defeat Dracula.
Reverend Fallowfield (Anthony Ainley) in The Blood on Satan's Claw -- Interesting character--he collects snakes and has a pet rabbit, and has to resist the nude body of 17 year old Linda Hayden. Ainley played some villainous characters now and then so this was an intriguing change.
