So how would you rate Elvis Presley as an actor?
This question is only about his acting quality.

Unrealized potential !
He did fine with the roles he was allowed to play.

I think he had some real talent as an actor but was stuck in so many silly movies.

paisleneWell said. His acting career, while bigger, reminds me of Frank Sinatra's. Sinatra could have made a fine actor, but by the time he really got going he was already known as a singer, and got typecast as such.

Damned good point. Sinatra had the benefit of entering the movie business earlier...before Hollywood really knew what it was. I don't mean that like a conspiracy theory, but just before film had become of an industry. Had Sinatra entered film at the time of Elvis, I suspect the same would have happened to him...and vice versa. Had Elvis entered film earlier, they'd have let him stretch a bit. Had Sinatra entered later, they'd had have him on a leash. Hoping there is a lost film out there starring Elvis and Sinatra. A man can dream...

Hard to tell as most of his films were poor as he just made them to sell records.
