Dame Joan Plowright
Born on October 28, 1929 in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England, UK, Joan Plowright is one of the most distinguished actors of her generation - on stage, in television and films during a 60 year career.
She is the widow of Lawrence Olivier, with whom she had three children.
Her notable roles include The Entertainer (1960) opposite Lord Olivier.
A Taste of Honey (1960) on Broadway:
Enchanted April (1991), for which she received an Oscar nomination as best supporting actress:
Tea with Mussolini (1999)
and one of my favorites, Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont (2005):
She retired in 2009 after she lost her sight. But you can see her celebrating and enjoying life with her friends and fellow Dames, Maggie Smith, Eileen Atkins, and Judi Dench in the wonderful documentary, Tea with the Dames (2018). (Trailer below.)
Happy Birthday, Dame Plowright. Thanks for the memories.

Bump.
Anybody who didn't watch the trailer in the OP for Tea with the Dames should take a look. I'm seeing it day after tomorrow. It looks to be very entertaining.
(And no fans of Dame Plowright, btw?)

(And no fans of Dame Plowright, btw?) She's a talented actress with a flair for comedy. I like her performances in 'Equus' (1977), 'Britannia Hospital' (1982), 'Drowning By Numbers' (1986) and especially 'Dennis The Menace' (1993).

Always dignified and elegant. Even when playing a dinosaur.
