Why are they even filming 5 films back to back? Nobody knows if these films will even be successful anyways. People will likely tire by the third entry or so. What if it flops like Solo? The studio is taking a big financial risk by doing this? As others like Jake and Poes emphatically pointed out, James Cameron has a strong record. We’ll see if it was worth the money next year.

Yeah I can completely understand how a lot of folks are thinking that 4 sequels could be overkill (and they very well could be) but at this point in the game it'd be foolish to bet against James Cameron when it comes to making huge cinematic game changers. A lot of folks thought he was insane for making Titanic ...it went on to be become the biggest film of all time (at the time) . Then a lot of folks doubted that Avatar would break even at the box office ....and its still the biggest box office film by quite a wide margin .
I'm most pumped for some of the under water sequences . Should be dope.

Just what the world needs. More alternate universe sequels. Look at how the New " HALLOWEEN" Movie is doing and how audiences have been reacting to it. It proves that that idea can work.

Wow, Cameron might actually be more delusional than George Lucas. Tough call on that one, but both are living in their own worlds oblivious to what people want or think about their work. His last film is the highest grossing film of all time. And his previous one is the second highest grossing film of all time... So I'm not so sure about what people want or think about his work. I've said it before: don't bet against Cameron and his ability to smash box office records and deliver on sequels. You have to be a little out of the loop to think there is a demand for these movies. Highest grossing film of all time, but where are they in pop culture? Nobody talks about it. The only reason it made a ton of money was because it was his first movie in a decade.

Lightning doesn't strike twice, especially when the first isn't exactly popular anymore. Everything avatar was happened in the first few months after its release. In the years since, it's a pop-culture dud. It's either mocked or people simply don't care about it. Your nuts if you think that is going to happen again. Hell, people laugh at Cameron every time he releases information about the sequels. He disappears for months, doesn't say anything, and then pokes his head out of his ivory tower and graces us with non-information about his four equals. Don't know if you noticed, but nobody cares.

You talk like most people that go the movies actually follow pop culture on internet. Look you might be right and Avatar 2 becomes a complete dud. But I happen to believe, once that first trailer emerges that the buzz is going to start. The man has been working on a movie for 10 years and he usually launches groundbreaking films at least in terms of technology. It's going to be a huge hit IMO.

If people can sit through 8 fast and furious movies, then they can definitely flock to 4 more Avatar movies. Bring it on!

A pop culture dud? then why did Disney spend 200 million building The world of avatar at Animal kingdom? Go check out the queues of people there and then come talk shit about it being a cultural dud.
