Original movies come out all the time. Most of them flop. most original stuff is a remake the original magnificent seven was a remake of seven samurai. westerns like lone ranger and maverick were radio programs before being made into tv shows The whole that argument that "They weren't remaking everything in sight back then" is pointless and dumb remakes have been around longer than most think . Alfred Hitchcock (the mastermind behind psycho and The Birds) remade several of his own movies

Sequels have been around forever too. Just watch TCM and see all the franchises;
Andy Hardy Blondie The Saint Torchy Blaine The Thin Man Tarzan The Bowery Boys Universal Monsters and the list goes on and on, multi-movie franchises all the way back in the 30's 40's and 50's

Have less than zero interest in 100% of what's on that list. Hollywood probably needs to just die off at this point. For every 10 movies made today, there is perhaps only 1 gem to fully relish and preserve, as opposed to an era gone by last century, when there were perhaps 8 or 9. Absolutely. These days, it has to be something I feel can only be done justice to by the large screen to pay the inflated theater prices, and deal with the less-than-civil hordes also in attendance. And the number of recent films that warrant this are at the absolute lowest ebb I can ever recall.
