Chances are good that either he won't be white or if he is, he will be mentally challenged.

Even an indie company that made Solomon Kane gave him all sorts of neurosis that was never in the original character.

Sorry, skippy, but anyone who has seriously studied creative writing and is a published author of fiction (I qualify on both counts) knows that character flaws are where good characters start.
Its as if the part of your brain that developed artistic tastes stopped growing at about 12 years old so that the only heroes you recognize as such are perfect he-men. Oh, and are blond and white. We must never leave that out, right, skippy?

You are the one with an infantile understanding of the Arts. Flash Gordon, in case you didn't notice, and given your well-showcased cognitive deficiencies you can be excused for the ignorance here, is not Aeneas or Hamlet. He's a product of 1930s American adventure entertainment designed around illustrations. You do not read Flash Gordon because you want complex personal drama or a dissertation on parenting/communist theories on patriarchy. You read it for escapist adventure. Strong heroes tend to work better for such genres--that is why people still read REH Conan or Doc Savage or Tarzan.
One could easily have a full SJW Flash Gordon and you might even find a role for yourself as his transgender Dale given your enthusiasm for such things, but that is a different genre.
The modern Hollywood film is a political screed masquerading as entertainment.
I saw this remark on another forum today but it is relevant to the discussion (since it shows others are perceiving the same storytelling lapses):
"Also, while the theme of empowered females coping with past trauma is potent, I found it to be disturbing that filmmakers seem to feel that to achieve this goal you must make practically all of the male characters idiots, villains, clueless dullards or hormonally blinded walking hard ons. Now I know genre films, especially of the slasher variety, tend to sometimes swim in the shallow end of the pool when it comes to character development, but this one was especially silly. I don't believe for an instant that you raise one group by demeaning another."

It's the 21st century, shit for brains. Things have progressed to the point where now, sometimes, crappy, superficial characters from days past get the adult treatment. Maybe they'll keep the character as mindless and poorly written as he was in his original form to keep simpletons like you pleased, but one can only hope that those of us with more mature tastes will get something which won't get our eyes rolling--and that means a character with flaws to overcome.

It's not adult treatment to make the character have a daddy problem. It's the opposite.
But let us know when you get your Dale costume so we can share some laughs.
