Slowly building up her career again, Middle of the Night 1959, with Kim Novak In the Heat of the Night 1967, with Sidney Poitier Valley of the Dolls 1967 There Was a Crooked Man... 1970, with Kirk Douglas The Neon Ceiling 1971, a made for TV movie Plaza Suite 1971, with Walter Matthau Schampoo 1975, with Warren Beatty Airport '77 1977, with Christopher Lee Damien: Omen II 1978, with William Holden Directing Tell Me a Riddle 1980, with Lila Kedrova and crew What Sex Am I? 1985, a documentary she directed. Defending Your Life 1991 Seasons of the Heart 1994 TV-movie, with George Segal and Carol Burnett, directed by Grant. Mullholland Drive 2001, with Ann Miller. Lee Grant won an Oscar Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Schampoo 1975, in the same category she has been nominated for Detective Story 1951, The Landlord 1970 and Voyage of the Damned 1976. She has also won two Emmy Awards for Peyton Place 1966 and The Neon Ceiling 1971. At Cannes she won a Palme d'Or Best Actress Award for Detective Story 1951 The above has offcourse only been small fragments of her career.

Yes, some wonderful performances - though I tend to think of her as a heavy dramatic type, my favourites are two of her lighter roles - as the mother of the bride opposite Matthau in the best sequence of PLAZA SUITE - and winning her Oscar as Jack Warden's knowing spouse in SHAMPOO. Her bitchy turn in AIRPORT 77 is pretty hilarious too... She caught the eye in DETECTIVE STORY and MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, THE LANDLORD, THE MAFU CAGE, VISITING HOURS and DR T AND THE WOMEN.
