Very much a product of the 1980s as it combines sci-fi and comedy into a pretty enjoyable movie.

I'm a fan. Love that movie. I never understood why people don't talk about it more.

Fun movie, and like many of Joe Dante's other ones, it's been forgotten. I always liked his work.

Haven't seen it in ages but liked it at the time.
The lack of seriousness in Joe Dante films seems to be a handicap for his legacy. The ones people remember best are Piranha, the Howling, and Gremlins. The ones with deaths in them.

Haven't seen it since the 80's, but I really liked it.
Always predicted that Martin Short would explode into movie super-stardom, either others never found him as funny as I did, or he didn't really pursue that kind of fame.

Gave it a try and turned it off or changed the channel not even five minutes.
Though I did show up on a street where they were filming a car driving down it and chatted with a crew member about it and film making. So that was cool.

Love it, one of the first sci-fi comedies I watched a kid and has stuck with me ever since

As OP says a very 80's movie!
It is what it is.
Haven't seen it in a long long time!

Huge fan. I saw it several months ago and I was hooked. One of my favorite 80s films. It's comedy/adventure/SF/romance and it works.
