What do I buy after those? Which of their albums is most accessible? Besides In the dark I heard it.
I don't like live albums though. I would assume Wake of the Flood is probably the one to get next, but I could be wrong.

Europe 72 is live, but it's more like a studio album. Very well mixed.

Blues For Allah - the closest they came in the studio to what they sound like live.
Anthem Of The Sun - technically a mixture of live and studio. Be warned though, this is the early Dead in complete acid-soaked glory. Not for the weak of heart.
Ace - this is a Bob Weir "solo" album recorded in 1972 with the rest of the Grateful Dead, it's actually a fantastic record. The Dead should have released this as a group effort, with some added Garcia tunes.

If you don't like live albums then I would suggest, as Millar did, that you get Blues For Allah. That was their zenith. If you like that then get Mars Hotel. I would strongly suggest, though, that you give their live material a chance and start with Live/Dead.
