Apparently, Walmart's Toy Shelves will be receiving other Exclusive Original G1 Character Toy RE-ISSUEs...
Hot Rod Starscream 6-figure Constructicon Devastator pack
and...
"Legion Class Figures" like Bumblebee and Outback.
NOTE: My Browser Warned Me, the link to this article "Is Not Secure"... And so I've posted the full article:
All I saw at MY Walmart today, 11/5/18, was about a dozen "Hot Rods"... Nothing Else...

That’s cool. Mind you there have been several versions of Hot Rod released which are better IMO. But it’s still one of the better G1 toys.

That’s cool. Mind you there have been several versions of Hot Rod released which are better IMO. But it’s still one of the better G1 toys. Yeah, over the years, "toy" companies have updated their designs to make them much more accurate to their TV Show & Movie appearances... and yes, that is a good thing... I have Masterpiece Skywarp, who has always been a repaint of Starscream... And yes, both modes are far superior to the original toys... But, it somehow just isn't the same... I remember back in the mid 1980s looking for Starscream at Sears... LOL!... Yes, Sears actually sold Transformers back then... But they didn't have him. They had Thundercracker though. That's who I ended up with. The only seeker toy I ever had. I wish it had been Skywarp though, I prefer his character more... Anyway... I guess it is all about nostalgia... TRANSFORMERS, TRANSFORMERS, TRANSFORMERS! Back when it was all new and big. All the kids in my school had them. and I wanted them ALL too... And I remember shopping in the stores, Filling out Christmas & Birthday Lists... Hoping to get my favorite characters from the cartoon... While having a Masterpiece "Starscream" may be more accurate, and may even be more impressive, and it's fun to show off and brag about... It's just not quite as satisfying and finally owning an original Starscream... even if it is a reissue stamped with a 2018 manufacturing date. Transformers or Not, I am sure that there are many people out there that still long for a few items from their childhood, that they were never able to have... And here's a chance for some of us to get them... Sadly, though, I wish more characters were coming out, because that list just doesn't seem to be all that great... While I love Hot Rod... I never really got the impression he was a fan favorite. It seems to me that many fans would probably prefer seeing other characters making a comeback... But seeing any at all, is just HUGE... And speaking of HUGE... Looking forward to the Constructicons/Devastator Gift set... And from I can tell based on other posts on the Transformers Board... I think fans will be rushing to the stores for that one!

I know with Joes I prefer the updated versions that they made about 10 years ago. Same with MOTU. But that’s just me. I can understand that others want exact remakes. I value better ‘quality’, for want of a better word. At the least it could be said that TFs are generally more articulate in their robot form now than they were 30 years ago.

Almost all of the G1 and now the Masterpieces and everything in between. He has the Devastator released a couple of years ago. That is a special piece. This gift set is what, the same toy as what was released thirty years ago? I can see the nostalgia value but to me that means little compared to a these updated toys. Each to their own 👍🏻

Some fan of both series made this... It's a shame this isn't a real product.

One thing about Joes is that there is a small customising community which makes great toys mostly from cheap 1:18 vehicles. Some of them are Transformer characters (in their vehicle form) and are cool.

When I went to buy... Starscream & Devastator ...at MY Walmart a month ago, they were sold out. And So I had to purchase them from Amazon at increased prices + shipping. FYI. Prices have been increasing at Amazon, since then...I went to Walmart TODAY (12-21-18) and they still had a couple of Hot Rods on the shelf. They also had a couple to Starscreams in stock too. All of those were at regular prices... They also had a large display of THESE Mini-Bots... BumblebeeOutback Swerve Tailgate The display was located near the Home Video section of MY store... Just in case you can't find it...I picked up TWO Bumblebees for $7.86 each (before tax) I see sellers are making a profit off of these at Amazon too... I had the original release back in 1985... I THINK Bumblebee has received a couple of "upgrades"... His head appears to have been redesigned to be more cartoon accurate. And the Rub Sticker has been replaced with a regular sticker.

The Return Of Optimus Prime! LOL! Well, Part Of Him Anyway... I picked this up at Walmart today, to add to my G1 Reissue collection! Unfortunately, there was only ONE still left on the shelf, or I would have bought a second one to keep in the box ... This was a complete surprise to find him in the store, because I didn't know he would be reissued... (Just like Hot Rod. LOL!)... (Perhaps, this is another round of reissues, that Walmart is planning on selling...) But, Sadly, this reissue Of Optimus Prime... DOES NOT COME with his trailer... Instead it came with a second weapon for Optimus Prime to hold. It seems pointless... When I was a kid, back in the 1980s, I had the original Optimus Prime (with trailer)... It was one of the first Transformers that I got... Being one of my favorite characters from the Cartoon, I played with A LOT... At one point, I thought I lost his removable fists, but I eventually found them. They had fallen into the the rear seat of my Mom's car. LOL! When I got rid of my Transformers Toy collection, back in the Mid-1990s, he was well worn and battle damaged. It's nice to have him back in Robot Mode again, and in excellent condition! And yes, from what I can tell, it's identical to the original. Be warned though... Even taking into account inflation prices... $49.97 Is quite bit pricey, Especially without his trailer! www.walmart.com/ip/Transformers-Vintage-G1-Optimus-Prime-Collectible-Figure/210385764

I don't know what they were thinking... Most collectors would want the trailer too, since he almost always drove, with his trailer. I just plan to display Optimus Prime in robot mode, and so, not having the trailer doesn't matter too much to me... While, I liked "Roller", the "inside" of the trailer was useless to me as a kid. I never played with it. As I recall, it was never featured in the cartoons.

You wanna know what's even worse, is in 15yrs that stupid bastard of a collector's toy will probably be $80 on ebay because so rare. I see Optimus & Soundwave toys from China (N.American re-issue) on ebay for about $60 Canadian... if I had $120+ to burn I'd dive in. It's not a life priority though at the moment lols.

As I already noted, I had to buy Devastator & Starscream from Amazon... and sellers there were already jacking up the price. That's why I try to keep this thread updated... It IS cheaper to buy it in the store... But you have to know that they are there.

I'm not sure how legit this statement, that I stumbled across, is... But...
I love Astrotrain!
I didn't originally have him... and so.. I sure hope this news is true...
Gee...
I wonder how many more reissues there are going to be, when it is all over...
But, Sadly, because of those Toy Gun Laws...
We know that Walmart won't carry the original Megatron.
