Some consider the undead creatures Dr. Freudstein in House by The Cemetery and the resurrected from the book/movies of Pet Sematary to be "zombies", but false. Zombies are just mindless dumb dead creatures who are careless dumb and all these, Dr. Freudstein and the Pet Sematary resurrected bodies are very different.
Dr. Freudstein is really more of a Frankenstein type mutant creature whom was once a human Dr. Freudstein was a human being living in the city of New Whitby, New England in early 1800. With his wife Mary Freudstein and their daughter Mae Freudstein. In a secluded villa next to a cemetery.
Dr. Freudstein's early work on degeneration on human cells and mitosis had been dismissed by his colleagues. Mostly because of his questionable methods involving living human experimentation. He did manage to get some financial funding for his work on binary fission. Yet in the 1830s he supposedly died after his experiments but lived on through the years, Dr. Freudstein's work on embryonic stem cells and inner cell mass lead to his discovery of immortality. To become immortal, he has to harvest and replace fresh organs and blood. Consumed by his groundbreaking work and finally immortality within his grasp. For over 150 years, the effects of his secret formula recipe has transformed Dr. Freudstein into a supernatural being with abilities like immortality, regeneration, supernatural strength and slender walking, basically he is an immortal who has murdered families who entered his house even trespassers as he takes their blood/organs for his experiments on being immortal as his face did decayed through the years.
The Pet Sematary resurrected in the films/book aren't really zombies either, they are demonic possessed bodies who come back as demons who return to torment the living. It stated in the novel that a Wendigo (an evil psychic cannibalistic homicidal trickster spirit demon of Native American/Canadian legends who can turn living humans into cannibals if one is touched by it) encounters the Micmac burial ground near Ludlow Maine eons ago which is not too far from a future local children's pet cemetery. It cursed the Micmac ground with dark magic for whatever dead body of any living creature or human is buried there in the burial ground will be resurrected in a day as a bad shell of their former self or a cannibal, knowing this danger the Micmac Indians left the area to resettle somewhere else. Over the years the Wendigo resurrected whatever dead animal there was buried in the ground yet the animals like cats, dogs and all come back uncaring and dumb yet only loved meat yet one bull in the novel came back really mean and vicious. However it liked being in dead human bodies the most like say when in the novel/original 1986 screenplay to the film version when Louis was gonna bury his son in the ground he encountered the spirit demon in his way as it knew what it was gonna do then let him pass. Timmy Batterman, Gage, Gus (in the film sequel) and Rachel were all possessed by the Wendigo as the real people's souls went away to the afterlife while the dead bodies are just shells as when the Wendigo possess the corpses the Wendigo is alive inside them plus high intelligence and magic too. Plus the Wendigo once inside the corpses like Gage and Gus or Timmy it knows of the secrets of living humans even skeletons in some living human's closets like say Timmy Batterman for when his dead corpse got possessed it knew of a man's secrets even talked different in voices inside or like in the novel Gage whom came back with yellow eyes like a cat whom knew of Jud's past secrets even spoke like his wife when he taunted Jud even talked like an adult with "I just wanna fuck with you" when he was killing Jud. The dead bodies are avatars/vessels of the Wendigo as they have more in common with Reagan/Pazazu in Exorcist 1 and 3 with a hint of Deadites from Evil Dead franchise in terms of demon possessed people who torment the living as they are also the Wendigo's puppets under it's control. Yet morphine injections can't kill a zombie but only a demon possessed person yet also the demons can do some Wendigo style cannibalism like demon Gage after he killed his mother he ate bits of her flesh and there was Gus in the film version's sequel whom i believe had the Wendigo in him as he ate a shitload of rabbits plus i believe other demons of the ground possessed the bodies of Zowie and the other sequel humans.
