I finally watched Mandy yesterday. Definitely one of the more original and visually interesting films that I've seen in quite some time. Cage was perfect for the role, I believe this will go down as one of his better films from the past 10 years or so. I really enjoyed the color saturation and the homage to Heavy Metal with the animated sequences and Cage forging an unbelievably amazing battle axe. Another treat was an appearance by Bill Duke who gave a short but effective performance. The early 1980's setting was perfect and the soundtrack beautiful. Even the main antagonist's song was well done and I was surprised to find out that it was actually released as a downloadable single.

Yes I loved it. Its such a pity that this kind of movie dont get a major theater release because rubbish comic book movies have brainwashed moviegoers. What sad times.

One of the films of the year. Loved the soundtrack - Johan Johansson's death is even sadder knowing he still had scores like Mandy left in him

5/10 Im mixed on it. I liked the revenge plot, the soundtrack and Nicolas Cage but the pink/red color scheme was kinda hurting my eyes and got pretty annoying. Plus the first half was really slow.

I am a much bigger fan of the dreamlike contemplative slow-build first half than the nightmare/revenge second half. The second half is a mess imo, though an interesting and entertaining mess and I love the chapter titles and OTT action and violence. It has the best cinematography, score and art direction of the year so far and I am a huge Nicolas Cage fan and he is used very well here. The movie is almost like a rock album turned into a movie. I am sure there are people analyzing this movie as I write this.
It is very cool to see a director do something as unique as Mandy.
