3/10 A terrible film. I had such high hopes for this. I liked the apples line. That's about it.

I watched it and thought what the fuck is this?
Minnie Driver is no Suzanne Pleshette that's for sure.

Well given how much the media talked about her I was surprised how unattractive she was.
Oh...it was a Harvey Weinstein production.
Never mind.

Bullshit movie. I've been in math education since the early 80s.

Minnie Driver brings the movie down, but other than that, a very well made film.

6/20...one of Robin Williams' less grating film performances; a decent feel-good story, though at bottom it's the usual completely unrealistic Hollywood bollocks.

6.5/10 - While I liked the supporting performances and most of the scenes, I couldn’t stand Matt Damon’s character. He’s cocky, obnoxious, and unlikable.
Yes, I realize he uses his tough exterior as a shield against getting hurt since he was abused as a child, but unless he changes it, why are we expected to care about him? He pretty much maintains his “FU” attitude towards Robin Williams, Stellan Skarsgard, and Minnie Driver up until almost the end of the movie. His changes were too subtle and came much too late in the movie.
I didn’t really care if this jerk squandered his extraordinary gift or not. I don’t know, maybe a different actor could’ve made the character more likable, instead of casting the guy who wrote the screenplay.
The best thing about the movie for me was Robin Williams performance.
