I don't think he dived or went down too easy. Maybe he did, maybe he didnt🤔
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, that he is just a klutz, and tripped himself up by accident...
Should he have owned up to the ref, and told him 'No penalty, I tripped'.
Comments welcome.

There was a shot of Pep on the sidelines. He buried his head in his hands with a look of horror on his face. Fortunately, he didn't trip himself up doing so but I would have cheered if he'd hooked Sterling there and then
What makes the incident and Sterling so embarrassing is that he claims he was trying to chip the ball over the keeper, yet as can be clearly seen, he kicks the ground a good six inches behind the ball. This from a player who is negotiating a £300K p.w. deal with his club. FFS!

It would have the game a lot of good - not to mention Sterling's own reputation - had he had a quiet word with the ref to set him straight. That said, I simply can't judge him too harshly... He's a pro, and sometimes that means being cynical. Not terribly pleasant, but that's how it is.

He'd have earnt a lot of kudos points with supporters if he had told the ref, who was presumably unsighted (I assume the linos and 4th official were asleep, they couldn't all have been unsighted at the same time?). Instead, everyone is taking the piss, and calling him a dick... Guardiola saying "this is why we need VAR" is a crock. He should have berated his player for being so blatantly dishonest. We all know everyone tries to play the ref and game the rules a bit, but this is next level in your face stuff. A bit like Man City's off the pitch cheating.

How cool would it have been if Jesus had gently back-passed the ball to the goalie instead of converting the pen? Anyways, I suspect Sterling regrets his decision to keep schtum.
