Gettysburg (1993)
But I do think the amphibious assault sequence in SPR is fantastic.

Besides the ones already mentioned, I'd suggest:
The Lone Survivor Tora, Tora, Tora Retreat, Hell The Longest Day
Not a movie, but Band of Brothers ranks up near the top as well. The Pacific to a lesser extent.

Now that it's been mentioned, are there any modern films about the American Revolution? I've seen the excellent John Adams HBO series but I don't think I can recall a film outside of the Patriot that's been made in the past 20 years about that most important of American wars.

There was a made-for-tv movie called The Crossing (2000). It's about the battle of Trenton.
I also thought John Adams was great.

I know, it's tough to think of any. There was movie Revolution with Al Pacino, but outside of that and The Patriot, it isn't a subject that's really touched on much. I think people just feel a closer connection with the Civil War for whatever reason.

Haven't seen one mentioned yet that isn't a true contender.
I have to ultimately go with "Platoon."
Oh yea, and one more for the "John Adams" miniseries for anyone who hasn't seen it. Well worth a watch.

So the Civil War was during that era.
