I has the two dogs the now... They are my family and best friends. We go everywhere together, including football. Dexter is a lab/husky cross. A rescue from Wales. Been with me since he was young. I trained him up, and he passed his assessments and qualified as a registered therapy dog, so he can visit hospitals, old folks homes, schools, etc. Mouse is a beagle, rescued from a laboratory in Ireland. He was born, bred, and experimented on for five years. He is a survivor of horror, and now loves life. They share the house with other rescued animals, a cat, a rabbit, lizards, and a snake. And whatever animals I happen to be currently lodging for other people (currently a wee cat called Lily whilst her owners are in Costa Rica). Here they are... They are very good boys. ![](https://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo/full?photo_id=501275508921) ![](https://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo/full?photo_id=501275508921)

I can't put up with people for very long. But I'm never alone.

I always wanted one - here's my problem - i'm an animal lover. can't see sacrificing another animal for the goodness of the snake. now I can't stand roosters/bats/mice/rats - but I can't even see feeding them to a snake..........hence I just rolled with turtles........

I'm a cat person, far more interesting creatures than dogs.

I love dogs, I’ve had at least one since I was very young, they are wonderful pets and amazing animals, I’ve always loved animals but dogs have always been my favorites, and I’ve always loved my dogs more than most humans, dogs are better companions, amazingly loyal and wonderful to have around.

Holly is a king snake. She eats dead mice. She would rather eat other snakes. They are cannibals. They like to eat their own kind, and rattlesnakes in the wild. Her name is Holly. She is 5 feet long, and was found abandoned in a house by the RSPCA, who turned her over to North Somerset Reptile Rescue. We adopted her from there about five years ago. We take in all waifs and strays in our little family... These have included chickens, runner ducks, pigeons, wild mice, wild rats, domestic rats, hamsters, dwarf hamsters, etc... Any sick, injured, or homeless animal can claim sanctuary here. I'm well known locally as an animal lover. The polis occasionally call at my house, when they pick up a Stray dog locally, to see if I know who's it is, so they can return it without having to take it in.

My wife is pretty badly allergic to dogs (much more to cats, but who wants a cat anyway?), but one of these days I'm hyst gonna go to the pound and bring a mutt home. We almost always had dogs in my family, and we adored them. Especially our beloved German shepherd/lab mix who was everyone's favorite member of the family. Now I'm relegated to visiting my parents' dogs, one of whom was already there when I still lived with them, and then the other they've gotten since. I love them both, but I'm gonna need my own soon. Poodles are good for people with dog allergies👍

I'm a huge animal lover....especially dogs. Dogs are the only unconditional love known to man. I saw a film clip of a man badly mistreating a dog, it was horrible. When I saw that dog wagging its tail as the man approached, yearning for a little pat on the head, I bawled my eyes out. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it.
My dog is a beagle/Jack Russel mix that we got at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter about 3 years ago. He's the light of our lives. We have no kids, so "Snoopy" is our baby. I can't even think of life without him....it wrecks me!

We have four, all rescues. My 16 year old cocker died last Xmas and got this little guy from a great rescue end of April. They go to kill shelters and get older dogs about to be put down. He was abused and neglected for 9 years. Now he's living a life of luxury. He loves his brothers and sister and even the cats and has more toys than he can handle. This pic was from camping a couple months ago. ![](http://i68.tinypic.com/2ld7dsp.jpg)

I had a dog when I was a child. I loved that little guy. Then my father was transferred to another city thousands of km away and I was told that we couldn't take the dog, and that he was going to live in a farm. True story.
Years later, my younger sister spent a weekend at a farm belonging to the family of a classmate and came back with a puppy she had fallen in love with. My parents were none too happy about it, but since my sister was clever enough not to call ahead asking for permission to bring a dog home, it was too late for them to do anything. So we had a dog again. He was a mutt but adorable and smart, and he was with us for probably about ten years, until he was ran over by a car and died. Terrible tragedy. We were all devastated (myself included, even though at that point I wasn't living at home anymore), especially my sister. Her boyfriend then had the brilliant idea of replacing the dog she had loved since she was a child with a new dog - a beautiful and expensive Cocker Spaniel puppy. Wrong move! Not even six months and that dog was out the door.

They always say that. That same farm must have seventeen billion dogs on it. Dog shit up to the rafters!
