I was just playing some fetch with my dog and the thought came to my mind how she makes a difference in my life and how much I love her.
She is a rescue. A Black Lab-Doberman mix. I have raised her since she was 7 weeks old. She's by far the most intelligent and loving dog that I have ever had. She knows with just a look or a word what I want her to do.
It's difficult to imagine my life without her, she is such a integral part of it.
I know that Klaw and Father Jack are dog lovers. Anyone else?
Klaw and Father Jack, I would love to hear about your dogs.

This is my kind of thread. I love my dog more than pretty much any person on this planet. Unconditional love. I walk through that door, and my dog is happy to see me 100% of the time. She's also a rescue (dog lovers get rescues), 50% Siberian Husky, then a mishmash of pitbull and boxer. She looks like a little fawn more than anything and she's small, at least for those breeds. Her face can look like a pitbull after I take her for a run or to the dog park, she's brindle, tall and in great shape. While she can bark, she rarely does. In the 2.5 years we've had her she has never once woken us up in the middle of the night to bark. Not one time.
After the gym every morning, I take her for a spirited walk/jog around the neighborhood for about 45 minutes. Midday, the dogwalker comes and lets her out. Then around 8 pm, after I eat dinner, I take her for about another half hour walk just so she can get air, sniff around, I give her some training.
I'm with you man, I can't imagine a life without dogs. Like, yeah, my wife makes me happy too, but my wife also complains about the women she works with, and about having stuff to do, and gives me a hard time, etc etc. My dog never does any of that and I'm more than happy to wrestle her, teach her tricks, take her for a walk or just rub her belly. I've seen countless humans getting massacred in movies but you show me a dog getting hurt, even in a movie, and it gets mad dusty in here.
Dogs are the best. We, as shitty humans, don't deserve them.

Naw. I love the idea of having a dog, but whenever I look after my friends/family members dogs when they’re away, I’m reminded of why I don’t get one for myself. They’re too needy, and I’m too selfish to give them the care that they require. A cat is more my speed.

This is kind of exactly how I feel about having kids which is why I don't have any and never will. I enjoy traveling, sleeping and doing what I want way too much. Yeah, dogs can be work, but I'm fortunate in that I love taking care of mine and she makes it pretty easy. Most days, I have to drag her out of bed when I get home from the gym at around 7:45.

The unconditional love is amazing. Something humans rarely give. My dog is named Juno, the Roman goddess of love, and it couldn't be more appropriate. I can come home in the worst of moods and if she's not in the kennel she will meet me at the door, tail wagging and a toy in her mouth happy as all get out to see me. She seems to be able to sense my mood. Even though she weighs 80 pounds she thinks she is a lap dog. She will hop in my lap and lay her head on my shoulder and that bad mood just melts away.

I love dogs and cats, and have owned many of both, even though I'm allergic to both.
But at this point in my life, I cannot bear to watch another pet die.
I won't even own fish.

My wife and I are both dog lovers and hope to adopt one soon. We’re a young couple and living in a country that’s not our own, so we want to get into a more stable situation before we take the leap. I have no preference about breeds; I just love dogs.

When my wife was first getting to know me, she was horrified at my reaction to some news story about a person who got hit by a car while walking a dog. My first question was “Is the dog ok?” She has a cat (which we still have) from prior to us meeting, but I wouldn’t call her an animal LOVER. Not like me. I don’t currently have a dog but we talk about it. I’m the one who has been resisting - once we get a dog that’s it for me, I’ll give myself so completely to it. I have to kind of mentally get in the right place.

I live in the suburbs, there’s a giant vacant, fenced in field I take her to almost daily where we run and play for about a half hour. Some days, her boyfriends Brodie or Rocco join in for some chase and wrestle. When she goes full speed, I’ve only ever seen one dog be able to catch her.

who's the greatest pet in cinema history? i'm going the german shep in the 'Hills Have Eyes' remake/reboot - beauty I don't think I remember that one, but sheps are great. That German shepherd mix in I am Legend was absolutely fantastic. She made a thoroughly mediocre movie much, much more enjoyable.

My wife is pretty badly allergic to dogs (much more to cats, but who wants a cat anyway?), but one of these days I'm hyst gonna go to the pound and bring a mutt home.
We almost always had dogs in my family, and we adored them. Especially our beloved German shepherd/lab mix who was everyone's favorite member of the family. Now I'm relegated to visiting my parents' dogs, one of whom was already there when I still lived with them, and then the other they've gotten since. I love them both, but I'm gonna need my own soon.
