For anyone who might not be aware, a reboot of the Child’s Play film series is scheduled to be released on the same day as Toy Story 4. Here’s the link for those who are interested.
My biggest question from all of this is to ask, what’s the deal? What exactly is it that ever made these movies as popular as they are? Personally, I think they’re pretty annoying to sit through. A doll that weights no more than two pounds is not a particularly menacing basis for a slasher villain, and I frankly think that Chucky is pretty annoying as a character. I don’t find him scary or cool, and I always get frustrated at what a bunch of idiots the people in these movies usually are. Seriously, why is Chucky such an iconic slasher villain? The 1st one was interesting because it played with the idea that the most innocent of things could be the most deadly, a child's toy. The sequel played similarly because people weren't tired of it yet. But by the 3rd it played itself out.
Some producer always comes along and thinks they can take a dead brand and bring it back, to capitalize. I'll bet if this property were to go away NO ONE would miss it or ask for it to come back.
Depends on what they do with it moving forward. I, for one am excited about the new TV show now they have Andy and Kyle back and I know a lot of other Chucky fans who are looking forward to seeing it too now they are back. They waited too long to bring Andy and Kyle back in my opinion and I think 'Child's Play 3' would have been better if it had only taken place a few years after the second movie with Andy and Kyle as the main stars again and '3' had been the fourth movie but I am glad they are back now.

Wait, there's a TV show coming?! UGH! How much Chucky can you take on a regular basis?! And how many legitimate stories can be told to fill a whole series? This is a bad idea.

A 'Child's Play' TV show is on the way and continues on from the 'Cult of Chucky' movie with Andy and Kyle. I think Chucky should keep going until Andy kills him and I think that is what is going to happen at the end of the TV show and with Chucky now possessing the body of Nica who is played by Brad Dourif's daughter, Fiona Dourif it will already be very different with him as a human. I would also like to see this in live action.

Because it is stupid, campy fun and it's poking fun at horror movies. The pitch is like, "Look at these horror villains who are impervious to bullets, just walk and they catch up to their victims who are running and they never die and always comeback. Let's get really ridiculous and have the next one be a doll."

some of them are funny to watch when you're stoned but other than that yeah they are pretty stupid movies.

I can see why he's seen as an iconic slasher villain. There wasn't anyone quite like him when he came onto the scene; a wisecracking killer doll. The whole attitude and look of him is memorable, whether the films are more silly than anything, or not. But I can see why they would be scary to some as a fear of dolls is pretty common.
