Why not. They will move back in in 5 - 10 years anyway.
Its a shame. The A's won't be far behind. You just can't play in that dump. Would you want to buy season tickets to a stadium there the sewers back up on a regular basis? Where every seat is 13 miles away from the action?
Vegas is relatively virgin territory (the NHL team will be a grubby expansion team for a while). I would have gone to San Antonio, but Vegas seems to fit the Raiders image better.

I've never been to Oakland, but have you been to San Antonio? It's a pretty unappealing city. Most of uptown looks like, and basically is, a giant strip mall comprised of department stores, and if you go downtown, you have two options: these grungy, dirty streets that lead nowhere, or the Riverwalk, which gets old before you've finished walking it once. A lot of the guys who call basketball games for TNT and ESPN have said how boring San Antonio is, and they're right. I don't know anybody who has gone there for any reason other than to attend someone's Air Force graduation ceremony, which is why I went there. Some people go to see the Alamo, but even that is just a weird, unsatisfying experience.

Don't be so modest ... You save the galaxy during the day, and you slam & jam at night (in the AlamoDome)

I was just thinking that SA is the 7th largest city and has only one major franchise. It also has a stadium. The Raiders are going to have trouble from now until 2020. Lame duck in 2017 and 2018 and no home in 2019. I have a feeling it will bite them in the ass.

Pure savagery from a punter.

Oakland doesn't want them (the politicians, not the fans) so why not?

Yeah I like it, Vegas is a good NFL city, Oakland wasn't and that stadium is a dump that floods with sewage every year.

I feel for the Oakland fans, but I don't think I care much whether the team moves to Vegas or stays. I certainly don't think the fans should show up to games for the next two seasons.

Well, now Im curious...will they stay the "Raiders?" The name "Raiders" will never go away ... it is one of the best in the NFL I hope, but when teams change cities, names change.. Cleveland lost their team to the Baltimore Ravens (No one cared though as they got another franchise....and poor Cleveland, Baltimore won two titles) Houston lost their team to Tennessee who became the Titans. So name changes can happen, Im jc if it did, what would they be? Las Vegas Gamblers? Las Vegas Raiders...doesnt sound bad I guess.

The Raiders moved from Oakland to LA (stayed the Raiders) The Raiders moved from LA to Oakland (stayed the Raiders) Houston Oilers was a Great name ... but the name Oilers is only good for a Texas team. You are correct about Cleveland. There is 0% chance the Raiders ever change their name ... it is a name like STEELERS, COWBOYS, or PACKERS. People recognize the name around the world ... there is no name that could replace it and be equal. It would be a significant drop-off.

Yea, I know you guys are probably 100 percent right. So lets make it a fun hypothetical, what WOULD BE a fun new name?
