He should not. He moved on to more serious filmmaking. He said what he had to say with his trilogy. It would be a backstep.
Establishing a fresh character or world, especially if it's more mature fare such as Watchmen, would be welcome though.

It would probably be an amazing movie, but it wouldn't be his best decision. He is currently at his creative peak in regards to directorial skills and I don't think he should spend that on a franchise that already has 3 movies directed by him.

I'd rather him spend his talent on a western or noir. Maybe even a film set in 1950's Europe with regards to the Cold War.

Maybe we'd finally get Leonardo DiCaprio as the Riddler.

TDKR wasn't very good, so probably some skeptical optimism

Pointless backtracking in his career. No reason to. I'd be highly skeptical that he has anything left to say with them.

Without the Batman brand on Nolan's resume, he would be nothing. The only reason people started caring about Nolan was when the brand became attached to his name.

"He's wasting his time reopening a series that had already concluded definitively."

I would invite him to have a nice long talk with George Lucas.

Dunkirk was his backstep

I would be excited, but also wonder how it's possible to do due to how the trilogy ended. TDKR would also be incredibly hard to top.
I'd rather he make Interstellar II and III.

But it wont happen. There's no more story for him to tell.
The only thing that would be remotely interesting would be if he did a true "The Return of the Dark Knight" adaptation, but Superman doesn't exist in the Nolan Batman universe. I don't see it happening.

Without the Batman brand on Nolan's resume, he would be nothing. The only reason people started caring about Nolan was when the brand became attached to his name. Nope. I was already quite aware of Nolan from Memento and Insomnia before Batman Begins. In fact, it was Nolan's attachment to the movie that gave me hope it might be good, not the other way around. And outside of Batman he continued to back up my faith in him with The Prestige and Inception. I'm an unabashed Nolanite. He's yet to make a truly bad film.

"Yikes. You already nailed it, bud."
I enjoyed all three of his Batman movies, but that has alot to do with the fact that he actually ended his story. So many movies are left to potentially grow sequels and even whole universes. Makes writing an ending a thing of the past. He ended his story with TDKR, and despite that there are a few continuity things that raise an eyebrow, he ended it and got out at the right time.
Apart from the excellent casting, I think people will end up remembering Nolan's Batman trilogy largely for the fact that he gave the Batman character an ending. No 'universe' necessary

Which are ye? What would you say if I said Interstellar is a really good film, but there's a little Deus ex machina in the whole being able to find and tell himself where to go from behind the bookcase for my taste?

I wouldn't be pleased. I want him to tackle other genres and tell new stories.
