Order for me:
Dark turkey (I could gladly do with that alone)
White meat turkey
Pecan pie
The only other thing I'd want would be sweet potatoes, though they can be too sugary/buttery. And rolls, if I don't have enough food available on the table and people aren't passing the turkey. And green beans if they're not buttered, especially if they have almonds.
I've had some ok stuffing with a lot of nuts, but I usually take a bite or two and it does nothing for me.
Mashed potatoes are like pablum. Usually soaked with butter and nothing crispy or crunchy in it. Pass.
I don't use gravy or eat anything creamed.
Cranberries are ok, but why do they always/only show up at TG? Are they attached to the turkeys as the farm?

I only picked one. Mashed potatoes.
Not a fan of traditional thanksgiving food. We typically go with seafood for thanksgiving. Weird, I know. But it works for us

Corn casserole/cornbread-it's mainly a can of corn, a can of creamed corn, sour cream and cornbread/muffin mix whipped together and baked.

No sweet potato fans? I just bought 8 pounds for $1. Oh, I love sweet potatoes/yams. The difference has always confused me, but my favorites are the red-skinned/red-meat variety. I posted on the "Thanksgiving Menu" thread that I've been asked to bring a SP/Y, dish to a dinner. The hostess suggested no marshmallows, and I wholly agree. (I never even liked "S'mores," as a Girl Scout.) Socks, suggested tossing them, cubed, in; olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder. I'm going give that "a go" tomorrow. Another friend suggested that I try a variation on what I do on glazed carrots. For that, I do a glaze of butter, brown sugar, Bourbon and s/p. On Monday, I may try a glaze of lime marmalade, butter, Bourbon and s/p. The lime marmalade will give it a bit of sweet, with a tart tang. And, butter and Bourbon will be ... well, butter and Bourbon. By Thursday, I may not want to see another sweet potato, for a long time.  |

The choices above are rather limited. Nobody would make a Thanksgiving dinner with just three of those items. Dinner cannot do without:
Turkey (white and dark)
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Stuffing of nearly any kind
Cranberry sauce
With those five things you have a Thanksgiving dinner for one. You can even make a sandwich of it the next day. But if, like most of us, you will be dining with several other people, you should have at least three or four other "fixin's" and dessert is a must. Best to have an appetizer as well. To the above menu, I would add green bean casserole, creamed pearl onions and sweet potatoes. Shrimp cocktail is a good appetizer but I have also had cranberry juice instead. Pumpkin and or apple pie for dessert.
