Has to be Betts. The way he affected the outcome of the game at the plate, on the base path and in the field was unparalleled this season.

The answer to these questions is always Mike Trout. Mike Trout is so good he should have won the Cy Young Award as well.

I hate that people are now "finalists" for awards ("he was a gold glove finalist"). This isn't the Oscars. Now people will start using that as a creditential. You'll see in baseball-reference soon: 5 All Star Appearances, 3 Gold Gloves, 2 Gold glove finalists, 2 MVP finalists... Stupid.

Picking finalist means there would not be a major upset, like that year when Pudge won MVP surprisingly beating out Pedro and Jeter (if I remember correctly). That was interesting. Also, there are only 3 slots for the finalist. There are years with more than 3 qualify candidates, like this year with J.D.Martinez. I used to love reading the MVP vote ranking, and look at those at the bottom of the ranking who got considered. The ranking is no more.

I don't ever recall seeing this before, is this the first year they did this?

Maybe someday MLB will have an award show like the NBA does.

Someone said something about making it an award show. I hate that whole idea. Why do we need another award show? In fact, why do they keep adding awards every season? How many awards do these guys need? I know I'm the minority on this but the whole thing has gotten out of hand. They don't need six versions of the best player of the year or the nicest guy in baseball or the Preparation H Pain in the Ass award of the year or any other these other idiotic awards.
