MICKEY MOUSEMemories, favorites anyone ?
His first released cartoon debut in NYC on November 18, 1928
" Steamboat Willie was first released on November 18, 1928, in New York. It was co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Iwerks again served as the head animator, assisted by Johnny Cannon, Les Clark, Wilfred Jackson and Dick Lundy. This short was intended as a parody of Buster Keaton's Steamboat Bill, Jr., first released on May 12 of the same year. Although it was the third Mickey cartoon produced, it was the first to find a distributor, and thus is considered by The Disney Company as Mickey's debut. Willie featured changes to Mickey's appearance (in particular, simplifying his eyes to large dots) that established his look for later cartoons and in numerous Walt Disney films."

Walt Disney Animation Collection: Classic Short Films, I grabbed these 2 Mickey Mouse volumes asap back in 2009 lest they vanish. Mickey through the looking glass, & Mickey-Pluto Christmas are sweet adds on those discs. Hack-added for my SNES Classic. I've Fantasia on dvd also. My Mickey fix is complete.

twothousandonemark Mickey and the Beanstalk and his Christmas Carol are also among my fav Mickey movies. Have not seen the Looking Glass. Anything with Pluto has got to be good, for my money ! Beanstalk is on YouTube but I couldn't get the link to do its thing.

Mickey and the Beanstalk and Mickey’s Christmas Carol are two of my favorite Mickey Mouse cartoons, too, BATouttaheck, but for an excellent relatively recent one I’ve long loved the “Gift of the Magi” segment of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas (1999), a really surprisingly good movie. It’s probably the best and sweetest movie telling of the tale.

NalkarjGift is indeed another of those very adaptable stories … Mickey and Minnie are a perfect pair for it. I always liked Mickey's gentleness .. even when he is upset, he "keeps it together" better than so many of our animated pals. Shall be getting the movies down off of the Holiday shelf soon after Thanksgiving for their annual viewings. Once Upon a … is there !

His cutesy image was badly damaged, probably irreversibly so, when Spielberg revealed Mickey's service in the Wehrmacht.

Did Disney make note of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney's death? I do not remember reading anything about it. Speaking of WW 2, there are claims Walt Disney opposed his characters being used in war propaganda-but I have heard there is an image of him giving a thumbs up to a picture of Dumbo dressed up as a dive bomber.
The Disney war cartoons are the creepiest. Warner Bros. ones at least have humor.
"Do I think he'll catch you? Why, he'll have you back here before you can say Schicklgruber."

I wonder why Mickey and Minnie never married. After all, Popeye and Olive Oyl eventually tied the knot--after a 70-year courtship!
