Probably Paths of Glory for me. It's hard to think of too many of them.

That's certainly a worthy pick, but mine is the original ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. I didn't care much for the remake with Borgnine and Thomas, since it strayed too far from the book. The original was almost identical to the book.

I will also go along with
All Quiet On The Western Front / Lewis Milestone (1930)
But you can’t go wrong with:
The Big Parade / King Vidor (1925) Wings / William A. Wellman (1927) The Dawn Patrol / Edmund Goulding (1938) Sergeant York / Howard Hawks (1941) Journey’s End / Saul Dibb (2017)

All Quiet on the Western Front. I like both the 1930 original and the 1979 remake.

Director, Joseph Losey's king & country (1964-uk) is an indictment on the stupidity of war, in which a traumatized soldier is court-martialed for desertion. All set in a muddy trench at the front, with a similar sensibility to paths of glory (1957). Top British anti-war film.

The Land That Time Forgot
I know, it's very loosely about WW 1.

Lawrence of Arabia is the biggie. I always had a fondness for Flyboys (2006). Anyone else remember that?
