To me, More Than This is perfection. One of those recordings that could never be improved. Heard a few covers [Blondie, 1,000 Maniacs & others] but nowt comes as close to this magic. Incredibly romantic vibe, sublime instrumentation, nice voice [best wishes to Brian Ferry by the way...apparently very unwell]. Great lyrics although slightly ambiguous...it's more the music for me....that is the killer clincher. I think you've seen me gush about this song on another thread, Foxy. Perfect for dancing to with a lover.
And if it wasn't romantically brilliant enough....when years later sung [karaoked] by Bill Murray in the wonderful Lost In Translation...that added even more lingering resonance to it. Incidentally and slightly curious to me, [to nobody else LoL] is that my favourite Cure song is also called More Than This, but is not same song. SECONDLY When I first heard LadyTron performed on The 0ld Grey Whistle Test [anyone remember that?]...it literally blew me away. Eno and Manzanera really doing their stuff. I play that live cut loud on Eleven to this day on my stuff. Adore That. Street Life, Virginia Plain, Pyjamarama are Still kookily gorgeous and fresh sounding. Their smashing live cover of Neil Young's Like A Hurricane is brilliant and also well played on my shuffle crafts BUT their Love is The Drug is far, far [by light years for me] better covered by Grace Jones and her Compass Point cohorts with Sly & Robbie etc.

Great post about a great band 博:Dr.BLΔD€:锯 Been revisiting them of late. From the art-glam-skronk of "Remake/Remodel" (still love that iconic licence plate refrain) to the lush chamber pop of the final two albums, such style and eclecticism. CPL593H!

It was a tough call between Mother of Pearl and More Than This.
The latter is a case where a band's most popular tune actually is one of their best.

Hate to go with the obvious, but Love is the Drug is an awesome track.

I wanted to list Slave to Love as well, but since technically it's a Bryan Ferry solo song (as opposed to Roxy Music), I hesitated.

I wanted to list Slave to Love as well, but since technically it's a Bryan Ferry solo song (as opposed to Roxy Music), I hesitated. They're all the same to me. Roxy Music is Bryan Ferry and Ferry is Roxy Music. :: Slave to Love sounds like it could have been on Avalon.
