Never would have thought he was going to be a Hall of Famer as he was leaving the Dodgers.

He really should’ve had a ring. 2011 is going to sting the Rangers and their fans for a looooooooong time.

One of the most under rated 3rd basemen of his time I think. I know I never gave him much thought like ever but he just consistently put up great numbers year in and year out after early struggles in his career. Unless he's linked to some steroids that I haven't read or heard about then he should be a shoe in first ballot hall of famer.

When I started hearing his name and Cooperstown in the same sentence my first thought was, "yeah right." Then I looked at his stats and the numbers are there.

When I started hearing his name and Cooperstown in the same sentence my first start was, "yeah right." Then I looked at his stats and the numbers are there. Exactly. I think I know what it is though. For me, I am a Braves fan and I mostly follow the National League. Beltre had a monster year for the Dodgers before he hit free agency. In my head I thought at the time, oh this is one of those big years before free agency and then once they get the big contract go back to who they were before. So for the longest time since I never focused much on the AL I thought Beltre was that guy. Turns out he wasn't. He got better and more consistent during that time. When it comes to the AL unless you're an MVP or Cy Young candidate or you know on my fantasy team I just tend to not be aware of how good some of them are. Beltre was that guy for me. I don't recall ever drafting him because in my mind he was that guy that had the 1 big year before free agency. Turns out, the dude ended up being a hell of a player. Even at 38 and in his last year, he put up more than respectable numbers. Similar final year numbers to my favorite player Chipper Jones. Chipper was a deserving first ballot hall of famer and Beltre deserves to be one too unless some sort of steroid thing pops up.

Chipper was another player that I wasn't sold on when I started hearing Cooperstown talk. I knew he was a very good player, but I didn't realize how good he was till I looked up his stats. Like Beltre he wasn't a big outspoken type player. He let his numbers do the talking and went about his business.

You have power guys (Schmidt, Matthews), but mostly light hitters and great fielders. These two have the complete package. www.nytimes.com/2018/01/25/sports/baseball/hall-of-fame-chipper-jones.html
