Nah not really. She did sweet FA. A few tame lies, suggested this is a "gay board", and then she was gone. Oh, sure. That's all it was. A couple of playful fibs, a harmless suggestion, and BAM! the ban hammer struck down another hapless victim. Are you free to share what was the final straw that broke the camel's back?

Out of interest, would you be with the hypothetical college protestors trying to stop right wing speakers from speaking at your college, or would you be against them? Depends on the speakers, and the content of their speeches.

I know it's too late now, but I'm kinda with Puvo on the whole banning Ada thing (if not fully endorsing his reasoning behind it: I don't think everyone who disagreed are "babies"). Of course, I'm completely sympathetic to those that advocated banning her and, frankly, I wouldn't expect anyone who treated the admin how she did to live to tell about it.
My reasoning for wanting her around has always been simple: she's probably the most despicable human being I've ever come across online or offline... and how can you NOT find such an individual to be entertaining? I've always compared it to movies. If you remove Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs, things would be much pleasant but also much more boring. Villains make things interesting, and Ada was a villain almost entirely without redeemable qualities (though I guess I might say I had a few quality discussions with her about movies and music).
Where I'm with Puvo is in the idea that it's pretty easy to ignore such people if you don't want to engage with them. Yeah, Ada lied about everyone, but this board is almost wholly composed of regulars who've been victims of her lies and so nobody believed her... so basically her lies were completely ineffectual. Even a hypothetical outsider who came here would have to either be an idiot (or Erjen, I guess) not to catch on to her as it's impossible for her to be civil to anyone the moment they disagree about anything.
Ultimately, I think the entertainment factor of Ada's awfulness--like how easily she was caught in her lies yet still outright denied them--outweighed the negativity she brought around here. Maybe I just became completely immune to the latter, and I'd think almost anyone who spent any time here would become completely numb to her evil to take it personally or as anything more than entertainment. Did she turn some people off this place? I find that hard to imagine. Anyone thin-skinned enough to be turned off by her probably wouldn't fare well in any forum on religion where controversy and even hurt feelings are often part and parcel of participation.
Personally, my participation here is split between posting and reading: when it comes to the former I seek out interesting discussion, but when it comes to the latter I seek out entertainment, and Ada was great for that. So at worst I may not just browse/read as much as usual, but that's probably it.

Are you free to share what was the final straw that broke the camel's back? It is not how ban works on here. Ban works on basis of how much someone is pushing the buttons and how a person's entire posting history looks like. It's interesting that Ada lied about my pm to her last time around. I allowed her to post the PM I sent to her mentioning details of why I banned her last time. She probably should not have been given a chance again given the threat she had replied back to me but we still decided to let her a go. Yet again, she was the same. Her message was clear that she won't change. We have taken members on probationary basis and some of them have completely changed their styles after getting temporarily banned and are posting happily on this board. And it is a board with rules. It does not work on basis that no one would supposedly take Ada seriously so let her stay. It is about consistency and it is also a fact there are folks who take people like Ada, Tokyo, Ben seriously enough to decide to not to post over here.

Well, no less than an admin of a rival site is probably convinced of many of the theories of Ben regarding this site. Not to forget many of the users of those sites. Ben even manged to get us warnings from pro-boards, something which Ada too had in mind. These people start threads complaining about this site, Admin and mods on various other sites. Other people will slowly agree that yeah this site looks dodgy. And even inside this site we often get reports where people complain about toxicity spread on here by certain members and how it makes the place not so good. and there are still other things that I can't share. We don't ban users for their opinions (like for carrying right wing opinions or extreme left wing opinions for example). Politics board is full of people with strong opinions. It's the posting history that we consider as the most important thing.

If so it wouldn't be shocking that they wouldn't have anything good to say about this place. Yeah, any posters generating warnings from Proboards deserve to go, but I was thinking more that you've heard from people who've said they refuse to come/post here because of the existence of certain posters. I don't know who Ben is, but like I said earlier, the RFS is 95% regs and anyone that migrated from IMDb would certainly have known what to expect RE Ada being here.

Other sites have a base of their own. I think rejects/bans of this site mainly go on one particular board but there are 3 or 4 other boards which have substantial base from old imdb. RFS board and Indian cinema board were unanimous in moving here. Not so much all other boards.

Are you free to share what was the final straw that broke the camel's back? This post yesterday by Ada on the area51 board might be that straw Geode: Has Ada ever made it through any moderated board? I think many of the NZ boards (Newspaper sites) had banned her too and probably even a global religion board. In fact she has never lasted on any board except old IMDB.

If I may interject for a moment... The sites in question were not "rival sites" until they made themselves rival sites. As I have stated from the start, I had no interest in any silly competitions. But when the evidence points to the admin of one of them being one of the porn flooders who tried to get IMDB2 shut down, I don't have much of a choice in the matter. Looks like I'm in the war whether I want to be or not.

She actually thinks* that people can't tell it's her just because she uses a different name. "I know, that thing that Ada, Blade, Erjen and Cody do can't really be called thinking but there simply isn't an accurate word in the English language for what is basically confused grunting in silence.

I guess I hadn't realized just how fragmented the IMDb board became after the move.

You were good enough to allow them to advertise their sites and even complain about this site. But some of them have not been very kind in their actions.

I earlier posted that her ban might be more of a "Lifetime Achievement Award" indicating that a single action would not result in it, but as far as I could tell she started back with provocations without causing the trigger to be pulled. It obviously came to a point where the weight of her lies, false accusations, etc. reached a critical mass and then one last element of bad behavior caused the ban.

Ok, lets say Milo Yiannopoulos, and the content of the speech is anti 3rd wave feminism, anti islamic ideas, anti black lives matters movement. A less extreme example, as he is a liberal - Bill Maher, because of his anti islam ideas in the past (no idea what his speech would have been) Both have been stopped from speaking. Agree with the protestors, or not? EDIT - Lets just assume for the sake of argument Bill Maher was just a speech, and not like a commencement speech or something.

This was Ada's attitude after being banned on another board and coming back under a different ID 14 months later: Do those lies and behaviour seem familiar AJ? First a failure to take any responsibility for her actions, followed by lies and an attack on the site itself resulting in this: Ada is banned soon afterwards.

Ok, lets say Milo Yiannopoulos, and the content of the speech is anti 3rd wave feminism, anti islamic ideas, anti black lives matters movement. Both have been stopped from speaking. Agree with the protestors, or not? Long before the trolling fuck Milo was banned from speaking at an American university he was banned by the student union of my hometown university: Let him speak I say. Then remove all security from the event and let him live with the consequences of his words. Freedom of speech but not freedom from the actions others take after hearing his words. The trolls like him and internet trolls in particular who think that the cloak of anonymity and proximity to the people they attack is some type of carte blanche to say whatever they like to however they like are ruining the internet for many people. The solution is simple remove anonymity from trolls on the internet publish their names and addresses and photos in their local communities and let's see how long their homophobia, racism and disgusting comments carry on then. When the man who made fun of a football player's wife online because her baby had been still born was named and shamed, what do you think happened to him Puvo? He lost his job has had the shit kicked out of him and had to flee his home. So I see you think it's perfectly acceptable for nut jobs like Ada to slander people like me,call me a murderer a danger to her family and a pedophile as long as it amuses you right Puvo? Well I've got a question for you mate,If you're such a big fan of free speech why after Ada called me a pedophile and I published her name, address and phone number, were you the first to post and tell me not to publish it? You see if you want true freedom of speech lets remove ALL restrictions, you say what you want and so will I not under fake screen names but under our real names. Mine's Brian Macken,I don't expect you to volunteer yours. What amuses me is the trolls like Milo who hide behind security and internet trolls like Erjen,Blade and Ada who hide behind their anonymity, have the same reaction when people attack them using their own methods, they immediately cry wolf and seek the protection of the very system they criticise. As this is a moderated board we must post within the rules set forth in the T&C's I myself violated them and was rightly banned for doing so. So what's it to be Puvo some moderation or a free for all under the guise of free speech? Which would you prefer?
