The Lion King is my most favorite film of all time. I could not be more excited for the remake. The photorealistic CGI is state of the art.

Another unnecessary, big budget, CGI-heavy remake from Disney that likely won't be remembered in 10 years. Whoop-dee-do.

To put into perspective how loved this film is, it was re-released in 2012 and grossed 100M dollars in two weeks in North America. In a Re-Release! People owned the film on VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray but it was #1 at the box office two weekends in a row against new films. I predict this outgrosses Avatar world wide.

They kinda spoiled how the opening would look. It looks promising enough.

I think the original The Lion King is good but also overrated. That's just my opinion though. Part of the reason the remake will make a lot of money, if not the only reason, is due to the Lion King name and how beloved the original film is. Not saying this new film has no chance to be entertaining, but I doubt we'll get any surprises or anything truly unique since it's just a fancy-looking remake. Chances are it will be like Beauty and the Beast 2017 all over again. People will watch it and will probably be entertained enough by it, but as I've said, you likely won't remember it in 10 years.

It looks amazing.
Loved Jungle Book and Favreau is a very competent director when he's not doing Iron Man sequels.

I hated Beauty and the Beast remake. The only Disney live action remake I liked was Jungle Book. Beauty was too SJW for me. The others were lame too Cinderella, Malificent, etc...

What about the Alice In Wonderland remake from Tim Burton? Do you plan on seeing the upcoming Dumbo remake from Burton?

I mean social justice warrior like in the sense they tried too hard to overcorrect to satisfy 21st century audiences. I'm not that hyped for Aladdin but I'll see Dumbo. I'm really pumped for Lion King though. If Disney is smart, they'll add some elements from the Broadway musical to this film. "He lives in you" should be the song to end the live action remake when Simba and Nala have a kid and it ends.

One of my most anticipated new releases for 2019. Huge fan of the animated film and am delighted to see this tale being given the live-action treatment. I do hope it's not a shot-for-shot remake of the original film though.

This might actually beat Avengers 4.

The Lion King is very overrated. Sure, it is not bad, but movies like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid are better films.

Lion King appeals to a wider audience and has that age old Father/Son dynamic. A mix between Moses, Hamlet, and Disney whimsical magic lol. Circle of Life dude. It moves us all. Mermaid is about a naive teen who should listen to her father and Beauty is about a pretentious teen who thinks she's better than everyone from her town and develops Stockholm Syndrome.
