The Lion King is very overrated. Sure, it is not bad, but movies like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid are better films. I disagree. Lion King appeals to a wider audience and has that age old Father/Son dynamic. A mix between Moses, Hamlet, and Disney whimsical magic lol. Circle of Life dude. It moves us all. Mermaid is about a naive teen who should listen to her father and Beauty is about a pretentious teen who thinks she's better than everyone from her town and develops Stockholm Syndrome. The message does not matter. Watch all three movies today and the other two films are just better. They are more entertaining too.

Lion King is by far the better film of the 3 mentioned. It's like an animated Epic for kids. Hans Zimmer Score, Elton John musicals, animation is better, better color, death of Mufasa had a more emotional impact, Timon and Pumbaa are much better comic relefs than Scuttle and Sebastian or Clocksworth or Lumineer. There is literally nothing better. Scar is by far the better villain of the 3, killing Mufasa and ruining the Lion Pride.

The comic relief of Gaston is also better than Timon and Pumba in my opinion. I just feel they are better put together movies. I have three kids and see these movies all of the time.

Divisive opinion: Beauty and the Beast is better than TLK (both the original ones)

This could potentially be the highest grossing movie of 2019. Here's what it's got going for it:
1. Remake of a highly successful film (it's still in the Top 50 highest grossing films, despite being released nearly 25 years ago) 2. Millenial parents and nostalgia, many people who grew up watching the film have children now, so they're both gonna wanna go see it. 3. The film has a wide universal appeal, it's setting, atmpospere, and characters obviosuly isn't "American" (in fact it's a bit of a ripoff a Japanese cartoon), so it can draw in the increasingly important oversees/Chinese market 4. The songs are catchy as hell, which is often a good way to sell a film (Frozen comes to mind)

Girls like the love story of Nala and Simba. It's animals so you don't have to worry about alienating people of different races or nationalities.

I'm sorry, but Belle does not develop Stockholm syndrome. Stockholm syndrome is a coping mechanism in which the victim uses love towards their captor to survive their captivity. In the movie, Belle is rebellious against the Beast from the start, and only falls in love with him after he decides to change for her.
