Ended up purchasing a few DVDs and CDs today in one of the last music and movie stores in my city and it is not often I buy there as of today it was not exactly a bargain when it comes their prices, which is just to expensive for me. It is a place I stop on by every now and then 2-3 times a year but rarely buy all that much, anyway today I could not resist some of the films and albums I found. Should probably buy them online instead, would have so much cheaper but I wanted them right there and then, not in 3-4 weeks.
Movies:
Anatomy Of A Murder (1959) - Alaways been interested in this film, never seen but hope to do so in the near future.
Best in Show (2000) - I went in with big expecations on seeing A Mighty Wind (2003) but it was a huge letdown, could not believe all the hype surrounding it. Almost unwatachable at times and never funny. Love This is Spinal Tap, so maybe I have a better shot with Best in Show.
Grumpy Old Men Collection - This one I only bought because I love the first one, Grumpy Old Men (1993) which is a big childhood favorite of mine, the second one is not bad but a long shot away of the original. I own both from before, but this came with both films in one disc and I thought it was worth it just to have a "back-up" copy of the the first film, just in case of an "emergency" or something.
The Addams Family (1991) - Somehow the sequel is everywhere I go, but the first film I have never seen in a physical music/movie store, until today. Very pricy, because it was an import release, but I had to have it as my movie collection sorely misses it, and I have not seen it for a very long time.
Albums:
The Pretenders - II (1981) - Its been years since I purchased their classic debut, however I just never went onwards with their follow up, well today I did something about it. Todays most pricy item, shockingly expensive in fact, what the hell is with these ridiculous high prices, as soon as somebody put an "import" tag on the CD sleeve. Yeah, I should probably have gone for much cheaper The Pretenders Original Album Classic series, five albums in one or something like that, but the CD cover looks hideous, no way I will put that monster beside the Pretenders (1980) special double disc edition that I own, and so I had to just try an forget the awful price and hope that the album itself wil rock as hard as the first one.
Rush - Power Windows (1985) - One of the few album releases from Rush and their 80s stuff that I do not own, and judging by the album cover and inner sleeves, I guess or at least hope it might continue the synth-rock/pop sound of their earlier 1980s albums.

I remember buying them only to complete my Toxie film collection, seen them once or twice but that is that. Agree that Troma had some pleasant surprises every now and then, but the over-milking of the Toxie franchise (for my part) went a little to high (or low) with the sequels, but of course for those who just cannot get enough of the big guy smashing criminals heads in, it must be great having several films of his to watch. I had the opportunity to buy the whole 10 (or ist 12?) Puppetmaster movie pack collection last week for absolutely nothing, but I walked away. Not even such a cheap price could want me to watch anymore of the sequels. Ok, I quite enjoyed some of the part II but the one with the nazis and all, it was a very big step down from the first two films, specially the original one. I have to agree on the Toxie sequels - II (although it had its moments) and especially III being comedowns, but I actually found IV: Citizen Toxie to be somewhat enjoyable in trying to recapture the magic of the original. Maybe not on par, yet better than a bad bunch. I think its wise to probably go no further than Part 3 of the puppet master films. 4, 5 and 6 if your curious, but after that you're flogging a dead horse. Cheap, hokey and quite boring. I got up to Axis of evil, which stopped me dead in my tracks. It finished on a cliffhanger, but I'm in no rush to see what happens next. Interesting trivia is that the latest film in the pipeline is written by S Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk & Brawl in Cellblock 99) and directed by the guys who made "Wither" (2013). Wonder how much of budget Band will allow for this production. Also I saw you picked up "From Noon Till Three". Very offbeat romantic western centred around the tales of western myths. It's quite clever and light-hearted, where Bronson is quite good in a real change of pace of what he was churning out in that stage of his career. Just expect something different.

Yeah I was rather surprised to learn that S Craig Zahler was behind the writing part on the latest chapter of the Puppetmaster saga, that kind of made me a little bit interested in seeing how things might work out, but beside the first two films I will probably not be bothered with the rest of the series, well if not the last one is a sudden "game changer".
Agree about From Noon Till Three as a offbeat romantic western/adventure, I saw it earlier this week and thought it started very promising during the first 20-25 minutes, then it kind of lost a bit of the pace and it had a bit of a long stretched middle section which I thought was a bit of a "letdown", but it did make it up by handing in a very interesting final act. I gave the film a 5,5/10 as I really wanted to like it, but somewhere along the way it "lost" me but certainly one of the more enjoyable of the Bronson/Ireland 70s films that I have seen. Sadly around that time, I guess Bronson as a movie star/brand with a solid streak of hits and classics was about to come to and end, where maybe Telefon (1977) is one of those films of his that I think are good but could have been so much better, but still not even close of the greater stuff he did hand out during first half of the 1970s.
Also enjoyed the sweet theme sang by Jill Ireland at the end.

Return to Nuke 'Em High part 1 was decent enough, so Toxie IV could well be a positive surprise. I remember that it got quite good reviews upon release. Puppet Masters 4 & 5 were the last ones to use stop motion, if I remember correctly. Curse of the Puppet Master was the last I bothered with. The "Axis" films look incredibly depressing and cheap even by Band's ever falling standards. Does Band actually have money to produce anything of value at the moment? I've been under impression that he has been essentially bankrupt for years. He has a terrible reputation these days because of all the shit he has done even to his most loyal fans, so I'm not really rooting for anything he's trying to accomplish. Got some new films I ordered a week ago: Stand By Me (Blu-ray) Song to Song (Blu-ray) Cop Car (Blu-ray) French Connection 1-2 (Blu-ray) Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 (Blu-ray) Life - Steelbook (Blu-ray) Beyond the Gates (DVD) Rob Zombie's 31 (DVD) Village of the Damned / Children of the Damned (DVD)

Yeah, "Class of Nuke 'em High" is one of Troma's better original productions. Its sequels followed the same route as the Toxie sequels, in both style and quality. Looks like Charles Band was scraping the bottom of the barrel with the revenue. While "Retro" was probably the beginning, the axis trilogy is where it was in full flow - Band doing everything to cut corners and keeping it bare minimum. Filming in China, and the puppets (well to be honest at this stage, they're dolls) are of crap quality. There was a making of featurette on the "Axis of Evil" DVD which simply had me cringing. He hosted it, and it didn't paint him in a great light. Hell, he even directed the last two axis film (to save a buck?), which there was a 5-6 year gap between "Rising" and "Termination". Probably busy trying to milk dry his other full moon franchises? Looks like a lot more effort, possibly even money went into the poster artwork design for these latter puppet master films. I don't know if this latest puppetmaster film is going to be a full moon production, as Band is not the only one attached to the producing credits. So it could be a possibility this one might be better produced, even better budgeted?

Power Windows is an under-rated Rush album. The Big Money was the very first song of theirs that I ever heard.

I hope things are speeding up and soon, as right now it takes about forever to get things going on this site. 3 hours of ridiculously slow loading time and it seems like it only happens here, no other sites, either that or my computer is screwing it up big time. Anyway, bought a few CDs and some DVDs as of today. Again, mostly impulse buys, well at least on the movie part that is. DVDs:Doctor Strange (2016) - I got it for absolute nothing, so cheap it could not be any cheaper. Not a big fan of these Marvel super-hero CGI films, in fact I am far more interested in seeing the low budget early 90s Jeffrey Combs version that was released as Doctor Mordrid and made by Charles Band. El Cid (1961) - War/drama movie starring Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren. Stone (2010) - Crime/drama starring Bobby D, the chick from the Resident Evil movies and Ed Norton. Tokyo Godfathers (2003) Loverboy (2004) CDs:Iron Maiden - Live After Death (1985) Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind (1983) Ozzy Osobourne - Diary of a Madman (1981) a-ha - Scoundrel Days (1986) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Good Son (1990) Anthrax - Spreading the Disease (1985)

Just out of curiosity, are there any sites or places that collects or combines most of these upcoming horror/cult Blu-ray/DVD releases, specially from such companies as Arrow, Scream/Shout! Factory and so on? I have this "talent" of always being too damn late or slow when it comes to looking up exciting and upcoming releases, and if anybody have some info on which sites or links which is best suited for that, I would be very happy.
