"Dexter" season 4 "Message in a Bottle" "Nights in Rodanthe" About five years ago my cousin rented Nights in Rodanthe. After watching it for five minutes she realized she had rented/seen it before and went off to read. I think people that don't like to rewatch movies at all, like ever, are weird. Anyway, it was a lot better than I expected. The best part to me though was the inn, big yet somehow cozy. Really really makes you want to own a place right on the beach and smell that fresh air.

I feel bad for saying this... The scene when she reads the Letter made me and my Brother crack up unintentionally. Have been meaning to watch it again. I also have "The best of me", "The Choice", and "The longest ride", and "Safe haven". I usually am not into these kinds of movies. (Horror fan) but they are guilty pleasures.

The Woman in Black (1989) bluray Wow, I wasn't even aware (not been to "updated" on newer horror releases as of recently) that this one actually have been re-released, and on Blu-ray as well. I really need to pick it up, as it have been lying around in my "to buy" list for as long as I can remember, and since I really enjoyed the 2012 remake, I am hoping the original gets a great releases, and would love to hear out what you thought of it, if you are thinking of watching it during the October Horror Challenge.

"Species" "Species 2" "Species: The Awakening" I have been through the first 3 of the franchise (re-watched the first and second one) and really enjoyed seeing again these sexy and action-filled sci-fi/horror thrillers, where the third one certainly ain't all that bad either. Have yet to give the fourth one a chance, but might do so later this month.

The British bluray was only released last Monday. Nothing too big. Comes with a commentary track and two versions of the film (original full screen release or widescreen). I only ever seen it on a beat up ex-rental vhs, which I owned until it died. The quality was so-so, grainy and lines throughout. So watching it on blu will be day and night. have you seen the tv version before? I remember being disappointed by it the first time I saw it. I think I built myself up when I was reading about how scary this film was to many. I found it creepy, but it didn’t blow my socks off. Although I don’t think I did any favours watching in the middle of day. Some films worked better than others watching it at a certain time. I’ve seen it a couple times since and it’s low-scale Victorian chills have grown on me. I like it more upon each viewing. Very different in execution to the lavished 2012 film. Going to hold off watching it until the end of the month. And possibly pair it up with ‘Ghostwatch‘.

Never seen any of the versions before, but as you mention, I have also only heard great things about the film, so maybe I am in for a bit of a "surprise", but then again, I really enjoyed the remake with Daniel Radcliffe, but not so sure how much it followed the original.
Yeah, watching movies in the middle of the day, at least horror films that is, I decided this time around, that I would do no such thing. Of course, if the time is not all there, I might have to re-schedule a few ones, but I do prefer to watch horror movies when it is dark outside, as there is just something very special during the autumn and October period, and also because that way, I have something that I can hopefully look forward to see later on.

Its been quite some time since I last purchased a bunch of films, but today I just had to find time to stop by one of my favorite second hand stores, as I had not visited for a while. Anyway, I picked up a few I hope will turn out to be pleasant surprises, while some others I already know exactly what I am in for: Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994) - DVD I was not too impressed, having seen the theatrical big budget version with Van Damme and Kylie Minogue a few years ago, but have only heard good things about this animated film. I also picked up a few copies of different volumes of that later tv-show, also animated. Memories (1995) - DVD The Tailor of Panama (2001) - DVD Rosewood (1997) - DVD Men In Black: International (2019) - Blu-ray Mr. Nice Guy (1998) - DVD Quigley Down Under (1990) - DVD Stargate Atlantis: Rising (2004) - DVD Stargate: Continum (2008) - DVD Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) - DVD Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) - DVD Michael Kohlhaas (2013) - DVD East of Eden (1954) - DVD Tekken: The Motion Picture (1998) - DVD Transformers: The Movie (1987) - DVD Cleopatra (1963) - Blu-ray Drunken Master (1978) - DVD Territory (2007) - DVD Not Forgotten (2009) - DVD Marked For Death (1990) - DVD My typical "luck", I ended up with the butchered region 2 british copy, that I remember takes away lot of the brutal and nasty final fight, and, well I am just glad I have the uncut region 1 already in my collection. Over the Top (1987) - DVD Already own a copy, but I just had to re-buy it, as it have always been a favorite Sly cheese classic of mine. Big Trouble in Little China (1986) - Blu-ray I have no idea, on how many DVD copies I own of this absolute cult-classic, but what I do know, is that I have none on Blu-ray, and hopefully this one comes with some kind of a upgraded picture/sound qualities and new bonus features. Well, I guess this one will have to end up in a plastic sleeve, inside one of my DVD versions, as this 2013 Blu-ray copy seems to have end up as yet another victim of the terrible and cheapish looking "updated" Blu-ray/DVD cover/artworks, and where they went as far away as they could, from the original classic and adventurous piece of 80s masterpiece, to, well, something extremely dull and unimaginative:

Have just recently ordered a whole bunch of films through different movie stores online, but I have decided that I will just have to wait until they all arrive, until I begin listing them all up. But, since most of those will probably take a few weeks until they arrive, or longer because of the situation as of today. I went into town and headed for the last (I believe so) official music and movie store left in my city, and to my great surprise (even though the prices were kind of stiff) I found a bunch of (hopefully) great and very intersting movies and albums, some that have been in my watchlist for as long as I can remember (I seem to mention that a lot): CDs:Iron Maiden - Killers (1981) One of the "missing" pieces in my music collection, and I am glad I found this cheap 1998 remastered edition, as I have most of the others 1998 remasters, and along with the Judas Priest 2002 (or is it 2004?) remasters, they look great in my music shelf, but of course even better when those who I have not yet picked up is included along with the rest of them. Of course, the most important thing is that the album itself is solid, which I hope it turns out to be. Venom - Black Metal (1982)Beside the infamous Black Metal title/album cover, I have barely heard much from either the band nor the album. But again, it went for such a cheap price, I just could not look away, and since I was alread on a "roll" when it came to british heavy metal 80s music, I decied to bring it home with me. Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears (1991)I gave the 2011 remastered editions of his first two solo releases a few listens last week, sadly they did not do all that much for me. Some cracking songs, but overall the albums felt a bit uneven, but I will keep them in my collection for now. However, I also checked up a best of (Ozzy Osbourne The Essentials) from 2003, that features 2 CDs, and where those I actually enjoyed the most, were his laters 80s and towards the mid 90 material, so when I found No More Tears lying around, also for a nice price, there was no doubt about where it was headed. Krokus - Change of Address (1986)Another heavy/hard metal/rock band I have heard of, but never really bothered to check up on. Not sure if this one is the safest/best place to start, but again, dirt cheap and well, classic impulse purchase. DVDs/Blu-rays: Parents (1989)One of those a bit extra pricy releases I found today, but since I have been meaning of picking it up sooner or later, I guess I might just go for it, as it was right there in front of me, and I felt I just had to have it there and then. Anyway, this is part of the Lionsgate UK Vestron Collector's Series on Blu-ray, and while I do have several of the films released in that Blu-ray series, I might see how the quality of this one is, and maybe I will have to re-purchase a few other 80s favorites, such as The Gates (1987), Chopping Mall (1986) and Slaughter High (1986) later on. Parents looks like a very interesting and fun film, and watching Randy Quaid play psychotic characters, never seems to fail. My only "complaint" about the Blu-ray release, are the two annoying "18" in red and "18" in blue, that takes up some of the artwork/cover, both of them. These warning "stickers", always stands out, in a bad way, but I guess as long as the film is okay, I can live with that. The Unholy (1988)Another impulse buy, which also is part of the UK Vestron Collector's Series on Blu-ray, is this late 80s supernatural horror flick, starring the late Ben Cross (R.I.P.) and looks quite stylish, at least from what little I have seen of it. Karate Warrior aka Fist of Power aka The Boy in the Golden Kimono (1987)Part of an 88 Films series, known as the Italian Collection, and released on Blu-ray. This one, I just had to pick up, as the trailer makes the film look hilarious as hell, and if it comes any near as close to the total cheese of other "similar" Karate Kid rip-offs, such as No Retreat, No Surrender, then I will be a very happy customer. Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983)A Blu-ray release by 101 Films, and this one I have had on my watchlist for far too long. By the looks of it, I hope it might be a fun and action filled cheesy post-apocalyptic/sci-fi film. Sorcerer (1977) One of those titles I had almost forgotten totally about, but the moment this 40th anniversary Blu-ray reached my attention, I was completely sold. Not sure what to expect, other than hopefully a solid adventure, and speaking of Blu-ray releases of William Friedkin, I also picked up the Arrow release of To Live and Die in L.A (1985), even though I already own it (twice) on DVD. The Vanishing (1988)Have seen the american remake with Jeff Bridges, I think, not bad but always wanted to give the original a go. Found a brand new release on Blu-ray, from Vintage World Cinema, and hopes it live up to its great reputation as one of the stand-out chiller thrillers of the 80s. Dragged Across Concrete (2018)Have yet to seen this, but hopes it lives up to the solid reviews. Village of the Damned (1960) and Children of the Damned (1963)Last month, I re-visited the John Carpenter film Village of the Damned (1995), and while no where near begin close to his best work, I still am quite fond of it. Never seen the original, but found a promising DVD Horror Double Feature, containing both the original british movie, as well as the follow up, Children of the Damned.

Hey Stefan, I saw you rated/watched Karate Warrior on my Letterboxd feed the other week. What did you think of it? Well, I gotta say, it was interesting. My Blu-ray 88 Films release, came with both the original italian version, and the english dubbed version, which I ended up with, an maybe it made the film even more crazy/funny at times, as some of the dubbed voices were "all over the place", and some of the god awful lines that were delivered, had me almost rolling on the floor in laughter: The main guy, have almost yet to step out of the airplane when arriving Manila, before he is "overwhelmed" by some "friendly" cab-driver (more like a sleazy overweight pimp-daddy) who shouts out sleazy stuff like: "YOU LIKE GIRLS? I GOT GIRLS. YOU LIKE BOYS? I GOT BOYS...YOU LIKE FRIED RAT?" Oh yeah, something like that, sure makes you feel very "welcome" as a tourist in a new town and country. The film is pretty much a low budget and rather sleazy Karate Kid 2 version, without the talent and money behind it, still I thought it was a times very funny, but too uneven and the main lead was a terrible "actor", at least in the this one. Would have made a decent job, as a stiff zombie, rather than the main lead in a martial art movie, as there was surely not much emotion going on there. Still, it did end up with a bunch of sequels, so I guess the film found its audience, probably thanks to some solid promotion work, and the magic or glory of the VHS heyday. But I doubt I will ever visit any of the many sequels. Rated it with a 4,5/10, which I think is pretty much where it lies in the entertainment value.

Don’t Go in the Woods I re-visited earlier this year, and found it to be much "better" or more enjoyable than a similar backwoood b-slasher, The Forest (1982), and there were some hilarious stuff taking place, and I might have to give it another watch next year.
